"Eliza, it's been four days!" Angelica yelled. "Don't you think I should at least-,"

"Ang, what you need to do is talk to Thomas. You need to tell him what's going on before you even think about taking a pregnancy test," Eliza reasoned, somewhat calmly.

"Okay," she said, inhaling deeply. "I'm going to... go talk to him."

"Good." Angelica left the Schuyler's kitchen to go to the boys house down the street. It was a miserable day: rain pouring from the sky in thin sheets, gray clouds blocking the sunshine. In other words, the sky was a reflection of Angelica's mood. She wrung her hands, overthinking things as usual.

Did Jefferson cover up last week? It had been such a blur of drunken motion that she couldn't even remember. If she were to be pregnant, what would she even do? She couldn't have a baby, she would never make partner by 35. All the firm would see was a big bundle of maternity leave. Adoption wasn't an option; imagine having a kid out there that you never knew about. So that left... abortion. Angelica shuddered. Not because she was against it, but because when Eliza's best friend had gotten an abortion she had said it was one of the worst experiences. So she just had to hope and pray that she wasn't pregnant.

She finally arrived at the boys' fraternity, knocking on the door. She ran her hand along the wet railing of their porch, raindrops rolling along it until they splashed onto the earth below. Angelica sighed.

"Yeah- oh, hi, Angelica." Burr said, opening the door wider for her to step inside. She gave him a small smile, not able to muster much more.

"Ange?" Jefferson asked, stepping out of the kitchen. "What do you need?"

"I-," Angelica's voice broke. "I need to talk to you."

Jefferson's demeanor immediately changed. "Of course, let's go upstairs." Angelica chewed on her finger and followed him to his room.

"Okay," she said shakily, sitting on the bed. "I'm- I'm late."

Jefferson took in a heavy breath and ran a hand through his hair. He looked at Angelica and saw a fat tear roll down her cheek. He looked away from her, and she heaved.

"Baby talk to me," she pleaded. He looked up at her with an unreadable expression.

"Have you taken a test?" He finally asked. Angelica tearfully shook her head.

"I wanted to wait until I talked to you."

"Let's run down to the corner store and grab one, and then we'll see what to do from there." Angelica nodded, wiping a tear from her cheek.

Ten minutes later Jefferson was standing in front of the bathroom door, waiting for Angelica. Angelica was having a panic attack.

Oxygen was flooding her body in short spurts, her hands were clenched into fists, nails digging into the palm of her skin. She was seething, her body pulling air in through her clenched teeth. She had a timer set on her phone, one that she kept anxiously glancing towards. Tick, Tock, the ticking of the clock.

She unclenched her hands and instead turned to wringing them roughly. Thirty seconds left. Jefferson stepped inside with her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. He kissed her head, and her hand subconsciously slid down to her stomach. They both looked down at her timer. Tick, Tock, the ticking of the clock.

When she began to scratch at her arm, Jefferson grabbed her hands. He knew her signs, what she did when she was about to have an episode.

The episodes had happened before. Law School was a very easy trigger, anything that went wrong. Her younger siblings, also. They always seemed to be in trouble. Five seconds. Tick, Tock, the ticking of the-

BING!

Angelica lunged for the test, afraid to look. Jefferson had less fear. He peeked at the results, where a small red line traced its way down the opening. They both let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank god," Angelica nearly cried. Jefferson hugged her. "I'm so sorry, Thomas. I'm sorry I-,"

"Hey, it's fine. You aren't, so it's not a big deal." She hugged him tightly and he inhaled and wrapped his arms around her. "Why don't you stay with me tonight, I'll make some popcorn, and then I'll take you to school in the morning."

"Thomas-,"

"Come on, you have clothes here." He looked at her with big puppy dog eyes and she sighed.

"Fine. But don't try anything, I just got done being pregnant," she joked. They stepped outside the bathroom to a stunned Theodosia.

"Angelica- you were, you were-," she stuttered, eyes wide.

"No, Theo, I-," she started, but Theo ran off.

"Shit," she said to Jefferson. He had an equal level of worry plastered on his face.

"Let's just, let's just go sleep. We can talk to her in the morning." He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her towards his room. She followed, and the door slammed unceremoniously shut.

Three rooms over, Theodosia was frantic.

"Did she, did she have an abortion? A-," her hands flew to her mouth. "A miscarriage?"

Aaron looked uncomfortable. "Theo, I'm sure that we're missing some information here, try not to worry about it."

"But, ugh, I thought that-," she was cut off by Aaron kissing her.

"Forget about it, darling." She nodded begrudgingly, laying down on the bed with him. They lay in silence for a second before- , "But what if-,"

"Theodosia," Aaron complained.

"Sorry it's just-,"

"Ohmygawd." Aaron turned to her and kissed her lips. That shut her up.
