y/n

i didn't necessarily cry after richie left. i just sat there and didn't even think. i just looked at the blue table i was sitting in front of. i decide to check the library for the losers. upon entering, i hear richie imitate bill's stutter. i lean on the other side of the bookshelf they were all talking behind and just listen. "richie, you and y/n are going to end up as a couple way before bill and i ever kiss." i silently chuckle at hearing althea say that. the rest of the losers start whining in protest but they somehow do it quietly to where the librarian doesn't kick us out.

"if you guys stop acting like a couple, maybe we'll consider thinking that you guys will kiss before they do," stan comments. i push my elbow back and it hits the bookshelf. fuck, the book fell out.

"oh, hey." eddie pokes my elbow. "uhh... who are you?" stan asks.

"reveal yourself, monstah!" richie imitated the voice of some kind of wizard. i peek from the other side of the bookshelf. "h-hi, y/n," bill stammered.

"sorry for uh... that." i sputtered. "no, it's fine. you're a loser, you're part of the family. don't apologize." ben smiled. "thanks, ben." i giggle.

the group goes back to chattering but not together. bill talks to— yep, you guessed it — althea about a song he heard on the radio, bev with ingrid about a new book, eddie with stan about some kind of illness going around, and ben and i about poetry. that leaves richie. he sits there, staring at ben and i talk about the weirdest poem's we've read in the derry public library. from the corner of my eye, i can see him with jealousy in his brown eyes.

we're dismissed and i fail to thank richie for the new order vinyl that i now admire. i stop by eddie's locker to ask him for a favor, "hey, eddie. if this isn't too much, do you mind uh... telling richie i said thanks and i... um... forgive him..?" what the fuck am i on about?! i don't forgive him!

"yeah, totally. see you tomorrow, skinny-dipper," eddie snickered. "whatever, eds," i pinch his cheek and leave.

this totally didn't go as bad as i expected it to. i decide to take the long way to the miller's music store  as to not bump into henry bowers. i succeed in that but i might've fallen into a worse situation.

"need a ride?" richie asks. "my mom doesn't want me around you but thank you nonetheless, tozier."

"come on, i can tell you're going to miller's. and by the way you're walking, you're on a mission to get something music related." richie tries to act clever. "hmm.. how could you tell, mr. tozier."

"honestly, i pulled that guess out of my fucking ass. was i right or not?" he sounded completely serious before laughing at his own joke. "yes, richie. you were right, congrats." i rolled my eyes and he biked at my pace.

"i'm heading there, too." richie claimed. "yeah? i'm going there for a new pair of earphones, mine broke a couple days ago."

"i'm going to meet with the miller herself, althea." richie joked.

we walk in silence and part ways once we get to miller's. i immediately enter while richie leaves his bike at the bike stand.

that was the last i saw of him that day.
