y/n

richie was confused. happy of course, but confused. why would the girl of his dreams come running back after his sorry excuse of a proposal?

y/n stood there with a fleeting smile. did the boy not love her anymore? was she not who he was crying over?

is any of this real?

of course. of course it was!

was?

is, it is real. richie relaxed and went back to drinking the liquid regret that he had grown to need.

"richie?" the girl squeaked. richie had been wearing the same clothes he was wearing on the day she ran away from him. the clothes were covered with dirt.

"have you not gone home?" she asked, richie still not budging to her tries.

"c'mon, baby. c'mon, lov-"

"don't you dare call me love." he snapped.

"you told me you loved me, you told me twice. why did you humiliate me like that?!" he screamed as the night's wind blew away.

"i-i..." she struggles to find the words she needs to explain herself.

"was it all just to give me false hope?!" he yelled. he ranted on about his regret, his agony, his sleepless nights against a tree.

she stood there with a blank expression. she stood like that until the girl didn't notice that he was even gone.

she hung her head low, waiting for the tears to come as she spots an all too familiar padlock broken on the ground.

she quietly falls to her knees and she thinks, what have i done?
