y/n

i was up all morning thinking on what to wear on the date. it wasn't much of an issue but i felt like i did need to prepare. the date was at three and richie was going to pick me up at two fifty.

i settled on a blue floral dress. i did my hair and put on lipstick in time for two fifty. i rushed out of the house to meet richie between our houses.

we biked side by side into town as the wind blew on my face. as we parked our bikes, we noticed the other lovely couple already in the diner.

we ordered and talked for hours.

"yeah. when we kissed, bill brought me to the kissing bridge and we kissed there. we put a red lock on the bridge railings." althea laughed then took a sip of her milkshake.

"i-it w-wuh-was romantic," bill chuckled. i notice the series of hickeys placed on his neck, shaped in a nice heart.

"ingrid and beverly went to the bridge to kiss too. a couple months ago beverly asked her out on the bridge." richie commented.

they continued talking as i mindlessly think of how it would feel like to be kissed by your lover on the kissing bridge. how nice it would be to add a lock among the many others that have been there for so many years.

i sighed, thinking about the low chances of that ever happening to me.

the date ended as we bid farewell to the music girl and the stuttering boy. richie and i walked together in silence as we passed the glorious kissing bridge.

richie stopped walking. i continued to walk as i didn't see him stop. "y-y/n?" richie asked silently. i stopped and  looked behind me. "yes, richie?"

he pulled out a lovely dark blue padlock with yellow stars scattered on it. all of them surrounding the text on the lock that read "bambi and his shortstack."

i gasp in amazement. "richie, i-"

"listen, you don't need to say anything. i'm sorry, so so sorry for being a dick. i just want you to be mine but i suck at emotions. and i just hope that y-" he trailed off as he grunted in frustration.

"i want you to be my girlfriend."
