Chowing down on a salad, I continue a friendly conversation with Katie and Liv. I clearly wasn't welcome to sit with all of the "cool kids" so they invited me to sit with them. "How was the party? Sorry we left early, it was just a bit hectic. We probably should've let you know in person." Katie apologized. "It's okay, and you missed a lot. Lauren practically drugged me and Carson tried to have sex with me!" I admitted. "Holy crap, I'm going to go punch them!" Liv growled as she got out of her seat. I quickly pulled her back down. "It's okay, Hayden took me home and helped me through all of it." I said. "Aw, what a gentleman." Katie smirked. "Gentleman? If he acts like that around you, be might as well be a player. Seriously, turn around." Liv gasped.

I jerked my head towards the table behind me where Hayden was sitting. I could hear him loud and clearly. "So Jayden, I've pretty much liked you for a while and I really would love it if I could call you mine." he smiled. "Of course Hay, I'd love to be your girlfriend." she replied. As she hugged him, she winked and grinned at me. Tears began to fill my eyes. Not knowing what to do next, I just ran. I ran straight to the girls bathroom. Quickly locking the stall, the tears began to stream down my face. I was crying for a good minute until someone was banging on the door. "Go away." I croaked. "It's Liv — and Katie." two voices echoed. I stood up and opened the stall. "I'm so sorry Annie, I didn't know you liked Hayden like that. He's so not worth your time." Liv sighed as Katie gave me a warm hug. I returned their gesture by hugging them back and made my way towards the mirror. My eyes looked puffy and my face was red. "I'll tell the gym teacher you'll be late, he's nice so he'll understand." Katie said.

But did anyone really understand?

When I finally made it to gym, I buried my face in my hands to hide the obvious post episode that occurred just minutes before the class started. No one even asked about me. I then texted my mom to pick me up early because I "didn't feel good".  Good thing that got me away from biology and walking home with Hayden. Now I was on my
phone, scrolling through social media.

Seeing the two together made my hands shake and my stomach drop. Why her? It wasn't just the fact that Hayden was dating another girl in front of my very own eyes, but it's that he hurt me. Was he not aware of all the pain Jayden puts me through? She practically bullies me. Suddenly, I realize why Hayden thinks Jayden is such a good person. It's because I never told him what she's done to me! Sure, he's seen a couple of rude remarks from his perspective, but I never told him about the time she locked my in my own locker, stole my bag and showed our entire English class what was in it, or any of the other horrific things she put me through. Still, it was too late now. He wouldn't believe me. I felt a tear stroll down my face.

Right as I'm about to set my phone down for the night, I receive a text.

What the hell was this? Why were they being so kind? I realize that I really needed to talk to Hayden, so I start texting him.

I text back "gn." before setting my phone down. What has gotten into Hayden? But most
importantly, what had gotten into me?
