Bonus Chapter 1 - Greyson

"Greyson! Felicity! Go to the car right now!" My sixteen year old's sister's voice trembles as she pulls us up by the hand.

"Are we going for a car ride? Going to get ice-cream? Is it an early birthday present?" I excitedly stand up, dropping my book, the prospect of ice cream before dinner appealing greatly to me.

Fel pulls away from Sera. "Where are we going?" Her voice reflects the shakiness of Sera's voice, and she looks like she's going to cry.

Sera kneels down and wraps her arm around me and Felicity. "Greyson, Felicity, I know you're 10 and 12 -"

"Practically 11!" I interject.

"-but we're going to play pretend, okay? Just like when we were little. We're going to go on an adventure. And we're going to be exploring city, and we're going to go camping. Sound good?"

We both nod. Felicity picks up her book and blanket, and I quickly stuff my school backpack with a flashlight, binoculars and a blanket, and follow Sera out.

"Sera, are we going to get ice-cream?"

"Sure kiddo. Get in the car, okay? Make sure Dad and Mom don't see you. It's a secret adventure."

I quietly open the garage door, and scramble into the passenger seat before Felicity gets to it, and she climbs into the back seat. Sera follows only minutes later, and starts the car.

"Can I turn on the music, Sera?"

"Yeah, here -" she passes me her unlocked phone, "- I took the password off so that you can change the music when you want, okay?"

I admire her Slytherin wallpaper, and open Apple music, before hitting play.

I don't mind Taylor Swift. I have two sisters, and I listen to music that Alex thinks is girly.

Felicity quietly reads in the background, while I look out of the window. The day is sunny, and bright.

"Grey, I'm going to pause the music to call someone, okay?"

"Okay, Sera."

The phone rings and a chirpy voice fills the mic. "Watsup, girl!"

Sera looks grim as she answers. "Hey, Di. I need a place to crash tonight, and I'm bringing my sibs with me."

Whoever this Di is, she answers quickly. "Am I on speakerphone?"

"Yeah."

"Is everything okay at home?"

"D is hurting M again, and things were breaking. Can we crash at yours?"

"Dang, that sucks. Well, Sam is out with his girlfriend, and I think my parents will be okay with it. Can I have an ETA?"

Sera's voice trembles. "Twenty minutes."

"I'll call for pizza or something. Do your sibs want anything special?"

I pipe up, "I want peperoni!"

Di's laugh crackles through the phone, and Sera turns sideways to me. "Okay then -"

It all happens so fast, as we pass through an intersection.

Loud bang.

Sera throwing her arms around me.

Screaming.

"SERA!"

I grab the phone and hang up on Di.

"911, what is your emergency?"
