A/N Enough childhood drama :) Moving on to a in-the-future bonus chapter :)

"That's so stupid," I sign.

Greyson waggles his eyebrows. He writes, I only caught 'Stupid'

He mashes on the sombrero to his head again, doing some demented dance with no form. I laugh as he wriggles around and grabs my hands, roping me to do his dance with him.

I can't hear the song he's singing, and he's saying the words too fast for me to read his lips.

We're in the middle of the dollar store.

Why is there a sombrero? I don't know.

The employee in the same aisle as us smiles at me, as she organizes the plastic toys.

I also don't know why we're in the toy section.

Greyson stops and haltingly signs, "I'm hungry."

I giggle, and sign back, "I want candy."

He quickly writes, I know that sentence!

Of course he did - that was the first sentence he wanted to learn. I grin, taking the pen and paper from him, writing as I followed him to the next aisle. Can we go to the park after this?

He looks sideways at me, and grins, though his fingers rifle the packs of candy neatly lined up.

He gives me a thumbs up, snagging the black licorice and tossing me the pack of sour patch kids.

I make a face and point to his choice.

He shrugs. "I like it," he signs.

"Gross," I say. He beams at the fact I spoke instead of another communication.

By this point, we're at the cashiers, and Greyson flips through his wallet, dumping out loose change. He told me before that dollar store was the best place to get rid of loose change. I look down at my phone, to see Felicity has texted me.

Felicity - Heeeyyyyy tell Greyson I'm going to be out okay?

Sadie - With you know who?

Felicity - Shh.... delete texts as needed after you read it :)

Sadie - See you later then :)

Greyson taps me on the shoulder, and I look up from deleting texts and see the cashier lady smiling at me.

She wants to know how you were deaf and can speak. Can I tell her? I nod.

I watch the lady occasionally look pityingly at me, as Greyson quickly explains. I feel a pang of irritation as she responds. Greyson's forehead crinkles as he frowns and he pulls me into his side. I can't even attempt to read his lips.

He pulls me out quickly after that, a disturbed smile frozen in place.

He's moving so fast, and I stumble over my flats as I clutch onto my candy bag.

"Grey!" I yelp as I teeter forward.

He stops instantly and catches me.

"Sorry," he signs.

"What did the lady say, Greyson?"

He frowns, and writes, I don't want to talk about it now.

"Can we talk about it later?" I take a hold of his hand. He sighs, and opens the car door for me.

The car ride is silent as usual, and Greyson occasionally squeezes my hand when he catches me watching him wordlessly.
