"No way, man!"

I tap the 'End Call' button to hang on Alex in irritation. Gosh, that boy was surprisingly progressing through a degree in psychology, but he STILL acts like a five year old. With better vocabulary.

The car's audio alerts me of another call and I wearily pick up with an exaggerated sigh.

"Hi Fel."

"Greyson! We have a special guest coming over tonight, be home by five, okay?"

"Who?" Downside of rooming with my sister and best friend: not only do they hate on each other all the time, with the ridiculous amount of PDA, she still bosses me around.

"It's a surprise. Also, pick up a cake or something from the grocery store. Okay? Great!" She hangs up even before I interject with any thoughts. I sigh again, and turn on my signal to drive to the grocery store. To spite her, I will buy red velvet. Everyone knows Felicity hates red velvet.

As I step out of the car into the Christmastime snowfall, my phone buzzes.

Felicity - Don't buy red velvet.

Greyson - Sucks for you.

Felicity - Greyson Hollister!

I ignore her and pick up the cake, gleefully thinking of how mad she'll be when she sees it.

The drive home is quick, but when I am about to pull up on the driveway, I see another car parked neatly where my car goes.

I grouchily park by the roadside, planning to slam the cake in Felicity's face. As I jiggle the keys to the house, a muffled bark sounds, and I stop.

The door opens and Felicity stands there. "My dear brother! You did not bring home red velvet, did you?"

I don't have time to respond and barely get the cake in Felicity's arms when a 50 pound golden retriever jumps up and attacks me with slobbery kisses.

"Eeyore, no!"

Sadie?! She's home!

"Sadie!"

Eeyore barks happily even as I completely forget about him to throw my arms around my beaming girlfriend. Felicity leans against the banister, smugly grinning.

"Greyson!"

"Sadie! Oh my gosh when did you come back?"

"Last night, Grey! You didn't hear us? Felicity and I were laughing our heads off in her room when she picked me up."

"Why did you - wait, I didn't sign, how did you understand me?"

She smiles shyly. "Cochlear implants. My parents found out about it and paid for me to hear again."

Astonished, I gape at her. "You can hear me?"

She grins, wrapping her arms around my torso. "Surprise, Greyson. You don't need to carry around your sticky notes anymore!"

My throat feels tight, as I hug her back, resting my chin on her warm head. She still freaking had the same smell.

"I missed you, girlfriend," I tell her softly.

"Me too, boyfriend. Haven't been seeing other girls while I was away at Uni, did you?" I can hear a teasing tone in her voice. She knows I'm her and only hers.

"Oh, Sadie, I had like, fifty dates just for tonight!"

We both laugh, looking at each other.

Felicity interrupts. "Okay, lovebirds, now that you've caught up and stuff, let's move! I want a new cake." Eeyore snuffs at us, as if agreeing with her.

Sadie turns and hugs Felicity, whispering something that turns my sister's face bright red.

"Grey, let's go get Felicity her proper cake." Sadie grins at me, and I let her lead me out of the house to my car. I hold the door open for her, and she hops in.

As I start the car, I am going to comment on the snowy, grey weather, but instead I blurt out, "I can't believe you can hear now."

"I know. And by the way, your voice is better than I imagined."

I grin at her. "No, I'm-gonna-steal-your-panties voice anymore?"

She smiles. "I never imagined your voice like that. Hey, you kept your birthday present!"

I finger the dog tags she had given me almost a year ago. "Well, duh, you gave it to me."

She reaches over to take read the inscriptions. "Greyson Hollister is a beautiful person." Before she had left the beginning of the semester, we had taken it back and engraved, "He is Sadie's" under it.

As she looks up, she grins mischievously. "You're still mine, Grey."

"Only if you're still mine."

"Of course I am."
