Four's POV
Lunch is over and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Everyone seemed okay with my presence which is something i'm not used to. I guess Beatrice goes by the name Tris, because that's what everybody is calling her. Throughout lunch I heard some stories about times that Ms. Matthews had gotten mad at Tris. It's probably not funny for her, but it's funny how much this teacher actually hates her.
"We've got sport together, do you want to walk with us?" Zeke asks. Zeke seems like an okay guy, probably my favourite. Will is too smart for his own good and Uriah is slightly, no wait, very annoying.
"Sure." I say, following him and the other guys. after a minute of walking, he pulls me slightly behind the others.
"I think Tris likes you," he says, pointing at her. She is walking in the other direction to whatever class she has now.
"I don't think so," i say. "She got pretty mad when i got her in trouble in math."
"Don't forget the part that she asked you to sit with us. she never does that." He states. does she really never do that? I didn't feel special when she asked me to sit with her group, but if she never does that, it's quite different honestly. maybe she does like me? I'm not going to go getting my hopes up, just in case.
Zeke and i rejoin the others and continue walking to the gym for sport.
Tris's POV
"Okay everybody, quiet please!" Our art teacher, Miss Reyes ,says trying to shush our noisy class.
everybody eventually quiets down, mainly because they don't want to upset their favourite teacher. Everyone loves Miss Reyes, she's one of the nicest teachers at the school.
"Okay class, we're having a free-drawing class. Just let your imagination run free and create some masterpieces!" she says in her usual enthusiastic voice. She always seems way too positive.
"What are you going to draw?" Lauren asks from next to me. She's the only one of my friends that is in this class.
"No idea, whatever comes into my mind." I respond.
We spend the rest of the class chatting and working on our 'masterpieces' as Miss Reyes had referred to them. Lauren has drawn a really cute cartoon kitten playing with a laser pointer. I wish i could draw as good as her. I look down at my artwork, it's nowhere near as good as hers. I drew a very scrappy picture of three birds. i guess they are ravens? anyway, it's of three ravens flying. Lauren looks over at my drawing and her jaw drops.
"That's so pretty, Tris!" she practically squeals in my ear. "You should get that as a tattoo, it would look amazing!" she continues.
"Thanks for the compliment, yours is better than mine though." I say, looking at her kitten drawing. "And i don't think i will ever get a tattoo." I add.
"I'm definitely going to get one," she replies. "If you aren't going to get that tattoo, i'll get it for you!"
We spend the last few minutes of the class just doodling on a page until the bell rings. We say goodbye to each other and walk to our classrooms at opposite sides of the school.
Four's POV
*time skip*
The final bell of the day rings and I rush out of the class with the rest of the students. I make my way to the front of the school and start walking home.
I make my way to the front door of my house and swing it open, Marcus isn't home. Yet. I wander into the living room, It looks clean and tidy and there are no decorations. Just the way he likes it. He only lets me keep items that i need, everything else is a useless piece of junk. I make my way up the stairs and into my room. The walls are painted white and the floors are dark wood. The only things in my room are a desk, a dresser and a bed.
I walk over to my desk and plop my bag down. I pull out the sheets of maths homework that Ms. Matthews assigned to me. I take a look at the first sheet, the one I asked Tris to help me with. She didn't help me so i'm absolutely clueless on what I'm doing. I'm about to start attempting to complete the equations when my phone starts to ring. I check the caller ID, it's Marcus.
"Hello?" i reply. Marcus doesn't usually call me.
"Tobias, i'm going to be away for a few days. Don't do anything stupid, I've asked someone to check on the house every day." he replies. check on the house? that takes away any belief someone has that he loves me, he doesn't. All he cares about is money and this stupid house.
"Okay," I respond.
"If anything goes wrong, i'll be home straight away, and you won't get away without getting punished." He adds, then he hangs up the phone before i can say anything.
I try to bring my attention back to my homework, but my mind is blocked. I could do something to really get on Marcus's nerves. I would have to run away from home, but sure, so be it.
I could trash the house? No, that wouldn't work. Marcus owns nothing important that would really get to him. I could paint the house colourfully? No, he would just repaint it and forget it ever happened. I could steal all of his belts? I'm such an idiot. All my ideas are bad, of course it wouldn't phase him, he'd go buy himself some new belts like every normal person.
An idea comes to me. A party. I have what you would consider friends now, I could have a party and trash the house with my friends and run away. To others my idea probably seems childish, cowardly but in my head it's the master plan. Where to start?
