I stood there, arms behind my back and staring at the man before me. Nice neat uniform, not crinkled. Hat off, laying beside him on his desk. Photos around the small office of him with various people and his new name plate on his desk.

"You wanted to see me, General Manning?" I stood at attention.

"I did, thank you Lieutenant Colonel Croft." He gestures for the seat. "Please, take a seat."

I did as he instructed and took my seat, watching his every move.

"We've received class filed Intel from one of our northern hospitals. A bomb blew up, still unsure if it was a malfunction with our own or someone did it on purpose."  He looks angry.

"Why are you telling me this, sir?" I lean forward on my chair.

"Because, Croft, I believe you are much like your father. Strong, well headed and you know the field before you. You've saved more lives than any solider I've seen before. You know strategies and I'm assuming you're still working on that peace treaty you've been working on since you got here."

I nod at his assumption.

"I'm promoting you."

"Excuse me?" I looked at him shocked.

"We have a number of high ranking officers now dead in that bomb explosion in the north. You've been voted by your peers and other people to step up. Even before this tragedy, we were thinking of promoting you."

I absorb the information getting told and I fold my hands over my lap. "Is this because I'm a she-wolf? Or because of my dad?"

"Neither are true. We choose your because you have excelled excellently through the ranks, made tough discussion most wouldn't be able to make and you've saved more lives. Including one spoilt Royal. Which we are very thankful for. "

"Did his highness put you up to this? Because I got injured?"

"No, Croft. Drew did not. You may be your fathers daughter, but you've been chosen by your peers and former higher ranking officers to have this promotion. You're the best wolf for the job. You're resourceful, quick thinking and smarter than any other wolf on the battlefield. Regardless of gender, who your father was and who you've saved. You're one of the best wolves we've seen in a long time. Take the promotion."

He puts his hand out for me to shake in agrence. I wanted this promotion. I wanted to make my dad proud of me, for giving me his name. I was proud to have it. I place my hand out and shake General Manning's hand.

"I won't let you down, sir."

"Glad to hear it, General Croft."

"Huh, it has a nice ring to it." I chuckle and soon I'm out of his office. "General Spencer Croft the second."

I keep my head focused, eyes forward and take a deep breathe once I hit the edge of the pool. I float up to the surface and let the air feel my lungs.

"Not bad, still not as good as the record in training camp." Piper giggles at me. "But then again, you were tied down."

"Ah-huh. Alright, back to laps." I was about to dive in but Piper shouted at me.

"SPENNY!"

I halt my dive and look at her, "Yes, sister dearest?" I take my googles off my head and swim over to the edge of the pool. Leaning my forearms on the edge and letting my chin fall ontop of that.

"Is everything alright?"

"Yeah, why wouldn't it be?"

"Well, you've been in the pool for half the day and well the majority of the week."
