"It's itchy..." I scratch around my neck.

"Well, General," Gerard teases me, "be glad that it's not three sizes too big for you."

I turn and look at Gerard, struggling to keep his pants on. He had been given the wrong uniform. I tried to hold the laughter in and grab him a belt from his belt to help him keep his pants on, literally.

"At least you earned your rank, mine just simply fell into my hands because of... Well, you know." I sigh.

"You earned your rank, Spencer. Don't believer otherwise. What happened was unfortunate, but your one of the highest ranking officers, the promotion was going to happen." He takes the belt out from my hands and places it on.

"Maybe that's the wrong uniform?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Possibly," He shrugs.

"I just can't believe what happened." I look off into the mirror, adjusting my new badges and insignias. I tidy my hair under my new hat, taking out the hair tie and handfuls of pins. Grabbing a brush, I start to retire my long, low ponytail.

Gerard adjusts his Colonel badge. "It was disrespectful, a breach of conduct, whatever else you want to call it. But the humans bombed a known medical tent, which just happened to have our Highest ranking officers in the tent, checking in on wounded officers. It's just dishonourable."

"Dishonour on you, dishonour of your cow." I chuckle, making a joke to lighten the mood.

"Look, Spencer, despite what you believed. You earned that rank, it was voted by most respecting officers. Fuck, even Prince Drew gave his opinion on the matter and he isn't even a high ranking officer."

"That's because I saved his life." I mutter back.

"That just proves you're worth it. You've saved countless lives, made major improvements between us and human relations. Heck, even that draft of a treaty is working much better than the past four years of war. You are going to make a fantastic General. No one can take that from you."

I sigh, placing the final hairpin into my hair. "You know I'm the first ever Beta to have a higher rank than Captain. Let alone, I'm the first female to be a General. I'm making history and a stand for She-wolves."

"Which makes me prouder, because your sister is my mate. I'll be so proud if I have a daughter turn out like you or your sister. You two are both strong, fierce and amazing she-wolves. You'll have every she-wolf looking up to you, being their hero."

"Your aunt is my hero." I make note.

"I beat she'd be proud of that." He places my hat onto my head and then places his on. "Cmon, we've got a dinner to go to."

I stare into the mirror, remembering that day. Earlier that morning, I had been given my new title and rank. It was a proud moment for me, huge surprise and because of unlikely events, I had been given it. I wipe it down, brushing away the stray hairs that had fallen and any loose bits of lint. I looked at myself in the mirror, only shaking my head at all the memories in my uniform.

Drew had congratulated me, after he was the one to give me the rank and badges. A royal member were the only ones titled enough to give General rankings, or even the few ranks below General. Only thinking of Drew and the possibility of being a Royal got my stomach in nots. I was eventually, most like, going to be one.

Was I willing to accept that Drew was my mate?

Twenty-four hours ago, I had a mate. One that I loved, well I still love, because it's hard to just get rid of those feelings. It's hard to get rid of years of emotions, thoughts, feelings. Any fantasies I had with Derrick were still in my mind, swarming around, even with the accepted rejection. Had I truly accepted that Derrick and I weren't going to be true mates after all? Definetly not.
