"What the hell Soyeon?!" He slammed down his phone in frustration. "She really did block me..I can't believe it.." Jung Hoseok had been trying for the last hour to get in contact with Min Soyeon. But no matter what, he could not seem to get through to her, and he was getting extremely worried. He thought that perhaps something had happened last night, and with that in mind, an idea popped into his head.
'Maybe I could text the boss? See what he has to say about all this chaos.' So he did just that.
Me:
Hi, boss! How did last night with Soyeon go? It's just, I'm a little worried as she was shouting at me, and now she's blocked my number..
Boss:
Soyeon blocked you? I wouldn't worry about it Hoseok. And last night went alright - a bit of a disappointment in the end, but it was out of my control. But, thank you for setting me up with her. As promised, you will now get a pay rise and be promoted to main choreographer - thanks for your help!
Me:
It was a disappointment? What do you mean? What did you do?
Boss:
Don't ask too many questions, Hoseok.
'Don't ask too many questions..? What the hell?' Hoseok thought about his boss' word choice. 'I'm sure it was nothing. But Soyeon..I really hope she's okay. The boss is a really nice guy I don't understand why she would get so mad. Mad at me, too. Have I done something wrong without realising?' He pondered this for a while. 'Maybe she finally realised that I stole one of her CDs..haha...' He sighed, having the horrible feeling that something bad did happen last night, and that he's being kept in the dark. But what could the boss possibly have done to her? The fact that he couldn't even imagine anything bad going on scared Hoseok greatly - the unknown is often more frightening than the known, he believed.
Standing up, he needed to clear his head. Shoving his phone in his pocket, he picked up his coat and left his house for a while. As he was walking down the busy street, Hoseok saw the gates to the park he often went to when he felt the need to cool off. He opened them, taking a deep breath as he shut it behind him.
"Hoseok?" He moved his head in the direction of the voice. "Hoseok, is that you? It's been so long!" A figure approached the man, and he immediately relaxed as he saw who it was - he had black hair and was shorter than himself, despite being older.
"Yoongi! Hi! I haven't seen you in forever, with me working and you..have you found a job yet?" Hoseok asked him as they hugged.
Min Yoongi had been jobless for quite some time - after quitting his other job - and most of his time now was occupied with job hunting.
"Actually, yeah. Yeah I have found a job. It's just a simple one - washing dishes, cleaning tables and so on, but the place is super nice and posh and loads of rich people go there so the pay is quite good, despite me only cleaning up after others." The man beamed at Hoseok, showing off his gummy smile, evidently proud with his new job.
"Wow, that's great Yoongi! Is your boss nice?" As he said those words, Hoseok was reminded of the reason he was at the park in the first place - his boss was acting a little suspicious, and Soyeon hated him. Memories of the phone conversations flooded back to him.
"Actually yes, he's super kind. His name is Kim Seokjin, he doesn't look that much older than me but he owns the place! It's crazy how succ..Hoseok, you alright? You look..distracted." Yoongi frowned.
"Actually.."
Hoseok told Yoongi everything - how his boss had asked him if he could meet Soyeon, since from what he had told him of her, he seemed to really like, maybe even love her, and about how he would get a promotion if he set them up. Hoseok being Hoseok agreed, thinking that it was about time Soyeon got a nice boyfriend - even if the boss was a little older than her - and he loved the idea of a promotion. He told him that he met up with Soyeon last night, and how they had a great time together, and how he'd left her with his boss. He also showed Yoongi the texts he received from Soyeon and his boss, explaining how confused and upset he was about the whole situation.
"What do I do about Soyeon? She's blocked my number, and I'm really scared that she'll never want to see me again. I can't go round her apartment, I can't call her, I can't text her, I can't do anything!" He looked at Yoongi, and Yoongi could tell that Hoseok was completely at a loss of what to do. He needed to come up with something, to try to help his sister's best friend.
"Why don't I try talking to Soyeon?" Hoseok looked at him, desperate. "I can ask her how she's been, and she's bound to mention you and last night straight away - I've known her all her life, there's no way she'll hide anything from me. I'll tell you everything she tells me."
"You..you'd do that for me? For her?" Hope glistened in Hoseok's eyes.
"Of course! I'd do anything for my sister and, of course, my sister's best friend."
Yoongi knocked on the door of his sister's apartment. No answer. He knocked again, and still no one answered the door.
"Let me in, dammit! I want my cat back!" Immediately, the door was flung open as Soyeon saw her brother standing there in all his glory.
"Yoongi!" She hugged the man, clinging onto him as if he was about to run away for dear life. "I've missed you so much!! Do you want to come in for a bit?" He strongly pulled her away from himself, hating the idea of hugging his own sister, and stepped inside the apartment.
"Where's Katie?" He asked, genuinely wanting to know if Soyeon had somehow managed to damage his poor precious pet. She pointed upstairs, and he looked at her, confused.
"She's in my room, lying on my bed. She must like it up there." Soyeon shrugged.
"She's...on your bed. Your bed."
"Yes. Yes she is." Yoongi stared at his sister, unable to comprehend the words coming out of her mouth. His cat, on her bed? There is no way Katie prefers his sister to him, he treats her so nicely, he loves her so much.
"Well, whatever then. How have you been? Everything been okay whilst I've been gone? Got yourself a boyfriend yet?" He nudged her, raising an eyebrow, but she looked at him, being reminded of something. Someone.
"Um..well...no." she started, a tad flustered. "But something did happen with my relationships whilst you were gone. Hoseok is...I hate him." Yoongi looked at her, pretending to be surprised.
"You hate Hoseok? Your best friend?! What could he have possible done t—"
"He set me up with his boss so he could try to have sex with me. His boss didn't get any sort of punishment..He helped his boss to rape me, Yoongi, rape."
Yoongi was shocked, horrified at the words she was speaking. He was completely stunned.
"I..what? You blame Hoseok for this, and not the guy who tried to rape you?! Where, where, in your mind did you think that your best friend would ever wish for you to have that sort of experience? Where?!" He raises his voice, getting angry at how idiotic and blind Soyeon could be.
"Well I.." her voice trails off, knowing he was completely right. Yoongi sighed, realising he shouldn't have shouted at someone who had been through something like that so recently.
"I'm sorry Soyeon. Really. But..you understand, right? We've both known Hoseok for so long and there is no way he would knowingly lead you into that situation. None. He cares about you so much, he really does."
His own sister was almost raped, Yoongi could not believe it. The fact that Hoseok had something to do with it made him feel upset, especially at the fact that there was such a big misunderstanding that could lead to this - Soyeon hating Hoseok, Hoseok being upset, and the guy who is really to be blamed, still out there, completely unaffected by any of this. It make him disgusted. Disgusted and angry.
Suddenly, Yoongi did something neither of them expected; he opened up his arms, and brought Soyeon into a long, warm, comforting hug. They stayed like this for what felt like an eternity, and they both calmed down, feeling a little bliss in this short, sweet moment. Yoongi let go of his sister and looked at her, straight in the eyes.
"Everything will be fine. Hoseok has done nothing wrong. We need to catch this guy before he does something to someone else." he told her, smiling. She nodded, still feeling a little doubtful about Hoseok, but agreeing with his last statement.
"So..what do we do?"
