"Here, your stuff." Namjoon handed Soyeon her shopping that he bought for her. She looked at him, confused.
"Why did you buy it for me? I have enough money to buy myself some milk.." She felt as if he thought she was incapable, as if she needed to rely on him - although she knew it was just an act of kindness, she couldn't help but be a little bewildered.
"Because I wanted to. That's really the only reason." He smiled. "Anyway, I got what I wanted from the supermarket, and so did you, so we best be off, right?" He signalled for her to follow him as he started walking. She followed, at a loss for anything better to do or say at the moment.
They soon arrived her house and Soyeon stopped and Namjoon, realising that this was where she lived, stopped aswell.
"Well, I'll go now.." She looked as if she wanted to say something else, but she couldn't put it into words, nor did she know exactly what she was going to say either, so she didn't say anything at all. Namjoon looked at her apartment.
"It's nice, I like it. Your apartment, I mean. It really looks like a nice place to live." he remarked.
"You can c..no never mind, I should be going - I would love to do some studying and get something to eat. I'll see you around though, Namjoon, and thank you for paying for my things." She smiled at him and started to walk towards the door.
"Is that a cat?" She heard Namjoon call out, as he noticed the animal-shaped figure in her window. He immediately took interest. "I love cats! Is he..she..I'm not sure..are they yours?" Soyeon turned around.
"Her name is Katie, and no, she's not mine, she's my brother's. But I am looking after her for a bit whilst he is away - he trusts me the most. At this rate, though, I may never give her back..I really love her. She's my everything." Her face had adopted such a happy look as she spoke about the cat, and Namjoon could tell that she really meant it when she said that the cat was her everything. In a weird way he was jealous..of a cat.
"Do you want to say hello to her? She's so nice to everyone. Well, mostly. One time she did try to scratch Yoongi's girlfriend, it was hilarious. Wasn't funny at the time, but looking back now..it was pretty amusing." she said lightheartedly.
"Yoongi?" Namjoon questioned.
"Oh, that's my brother's name. Anyway do you wanna see Katie or not?" He nodded, eager to meet this cat, especially since he wasn't allowed to keep pets at home.
Soyeon unlocked the door and picked up Katie, she didn't struggle at all because she was such a kind cat.
"Oh, you're such a sweetheart." she whispered in the cat's ear as she brought her outside to greet Namjoon. Immediately, however, the feline leapt out of her arms, and started attacking the poor man.
"Katie!" Soyeon quickly grabbed the attacking cat, scolding her as Namjoon laughed.
"It's okay, don't worry about it. She really likes you, doesn't she?" He said, and she nodded in return.
"And I really like her..I almost don't want Yoongi to come back.. Oh! Don't get me wrong, I don't wish anything bad at all - I would hate that more than anything, I really would - but I do love this cat, so much." She smiled. "I'm super sorry about her weird behaviour just now, I really don't understand why she did that - as I said, this has only happened once before."
"Really, it's fine. Anyway I best head off now I have things to do." Namjoon told her as he reached forward to pet the cat. "Actually, maybe I shouldn't touch her, she might go crazy again." They laughed. "Well..bye, Soyeon! Hopefully we meet again some time..and I hope everything that happened last night gets sorted out." He smiled at her again, comforting her with the last words he spoke, and he walked off, back the way they came.
Soyeon stood there for about a minute, just holding the cat, staring at where he last spoke to her.
'He went so quickly..he was so nice about everything. How can someone be so kind? and his dimples...' she thought, but quickly erased those thoughts and turned around, going back inside, putting down Katie. She gave her a look that said 'how could you', before walking off into the kitchen and unpacking the shopping Namjoon had gotten her.
Two of the milks were in the freezer so they would last longer, and the other was open and being poured on her poor, lonely, abandoned cornflakes. Eager to finally eat them, Soyeon sat straight down at the dining table in the room adjacent to the kitchen, before realising that she didn't have a spoon to eat them with. As she made her way back to grab one, something caught her eye, and she went straight over to it.
'I don't recall putting that in my shopping...' At the bottom of the bag, there lay a crumpled up, slightly wet piece of paper. She picked it up, and opened it.
"A phone number?!" Sure enough, written on the paper was a mobile phone number. "What am I supposed to do with that? Call it?" Soyeon half joked to herself, but then a thought occurred. What if it was Namjoon's?
"No. That's ridiculous. There is no way someone like him would put their phone number in someone's shopping. No way. None." But she couldn't help but be curious. Taking her phone out her pocket, she was going to save the number, but as she turned her screen on, she saw a message.
Hobi hobi 🌸:
Hey Soyeon! How did your night with my boss go? I hope it went smoothly :) I'm sorry I had to leave but, well you understand that he wanted to be with just you. Maybe we could meet up again soon? xoxoxo
Anger and betrayal filled Soyeon as she read the message, over and over, and over again. She could not believe the amount of nerve that person had, to text her after what happened last night. Was he mocking her? Rage filled her, as well as disgust, and she replied, not thinking, even caring about her words anymore. She needed to let him know exactly how he made her feel.
Me:
Hoseok what the FUCK DONT TALK TO ME YOU HORRIBLE FUCKING PERSON. YOU ARE THE WORST AND I HOPE YOU ROT IN HELL! Never EVER talk to me again. You make me sick. I hate you. Truly. xoxoxo
Soon after, she received a call. It was from Hoseok. Of course it was. Who the hell else would want to talk to her? Soyeon immediately declined the call, never wishing to hear from him again. He called again. She declined. And again. He tried five more times before he gave up. Soyeon sat on the kitchen floor, overcome with emotion, feeling tears start to boil. Ping! A text. Ping! And another. She checked her phone.
Hobi hobi 🌸:
...Soyeon?
Hobi hobi 🌸:
Are you okay?!
Hobi hobi 🌸:
What happened last night??
Hobi hobi 🌸:
Soyeon please answer my calls...I need to know that you're okay. What happened for you to say that to me? What have I done wrong? Did the night not go well???
He called her again, and Soyeon considered answering, but still ended up declining.
'He's just tricking you..' she thought.
Hobi hobi 🌸:
Please Soyeon answer me
Hobi hobi 🌸:
I don't understand what happened why are you not answering me?! Are you okay or not??
Another call. The final decline.
Hobi hobi 🌸:
...
Hobi hobi 🌸:
Whatever happened I'm sorry. I really don't know what happened last night and I'm really worried. Please consider calling back Soyeon PLEASE
She blocked the number. No more Hoseok. She could not believe that he set her up with his boss so that he could try to rape her. Does he really not care about her at all? Is he really so selfish to do that? She didn't want to believe it, really she didn't, but Soyeon knew that, deep down, she would never be good enough for Jung Hoseok. Never.
