Micheals POV
"Zombie!"
"Blood!"
"Claws!"
"JEREMY!"
"Pause."
Mr. Heere's booming voice filled the room as Jer's face grew pale. When he turned to me, something was...off. He had this look in his eyes. What was it?

Oh.

Fear.

He swallowed hard and started to stand up, his hands shaking until his bedroom door flew open revealing a clearly drunk mr. Heere.
The man looked at me and hatred covered his face.
"Jeremiah Heere, get your ass upstairs before I-"
I cut him off. I didn't even know what I was saying, but I did know I did not want him to finish that sentence.
"Mr. Heere, I do apologize for interrupting you, but I really don't think you want to continue that thought."
"What's it to you, kid." He snarled.
"I, unlike you, care about Jeremy. And I can and will protect him at all costs."
He laughed a nearly inhuman laugh and started speaking again.
"Fine, you can keep the fag. All he'll ever be is a waste of space." With that mr. Heere stumbled out of the room.
By now Jeremy's cheeks were stained with tears as he silently sobbed.

I gently wrapped my arms around him as he buried himself deeper into my chest.
A few moments had passed before either of us spoke.
"Come on, let's get you out of this hell house." I whispered.
"M-Micha," he choked out between sobs. "I don't have anywhere else to go."
"You can stay with me." I said, smiling fondly at the thought.
"No, I...I couldn't Micha-you don't need to do that."
Before I had time to process what I was saying, the words started tumbling out.
"Of course I do! Jer I love you more than an-" I clasped a hand over my mouth, cutting myself off.
"I-I mean I...uh.."
Too late, Micheal. You messed up. Big time.

I honestly have no recollection of what I was thinking at this time. But I sure as hell did not expect what was going to happen next.
He giggled.

He giggled.

"Why on earth are you laughing, Jer?" I asked anxiously.
"You're so oblivious." He said before chuckling again.
I was speechless. What did he mean? Oblivious?!
"I love you too, you idiot." He said through a lopsided grin.
The idea took me a while to wrap my head around, but soon I too was laughing with him.
"What?" I asked in disbelief.
"Mikey, I've loved you for, oh I don't know-six years. I think everyone on planet earth knew, except for you."
"But...why?"
"You're literally the best thing that's ever happened to me. You're the reason I'm alive. You're my best friend. My player two. My everything."
Unable to think of anything to say that could possibly match what Jeremy said, i threw my arms around him, wanting to stay there for forever.

Oh wait.

"We should probably get going, Jer, before..."I trailed off.
"Yeah." Was all he said with a sorrowful smile.
He quickly grabbed his backpack and shoved his belongings into it before opening and climbing through his window.

It looked routine at this point.

"How long, Jer?"
"I already told you. Six years."
"Not that. How long...your dad." Was all I could manage saying.
"Oh...ten years? Maybe?"
My heart dropped.

We pulled into my driveway and made our way inside.
"Ma? I'm home."
My mom walked out of the kitchen with oven mitts on.
"Ah! Micheal! Jeremy! How did were your days?" She asked with a warm smile.
I pulled her back into the kitchen and quickly explained the situation in a hushed tone.

Jeremy's POV

I heard Micheal explain everything to his mother as she murmured phrases of pity.
Then their voices became even more hushed. I had to press my ear against the wall to hear them.

"Please, please tell me you told him."
"Ma!"
"I'm being serious Micheal! If I have to hear one more speech about how perfect his smile is, I'm going to tell him for you!"
"Well, as a matter of fact I did in a way confess. It was a complete accident, but I think he really does like me back."
"Micheal!! This is amazing! I'll be right back, I need to have a word with this boy."
"MA! Wait!"

Before I knew what was happening, mrs Mell was hugging me.
"This is so great! All Micheal ever talked about is you! Jeremy this, Jeremy that. I'm so glad he found someone as wonderful as you! Welcome to the family, son!"

Micheals (red) face was buried in his hands as he kept muttering "ohmygodohmygodohmygod..." on an endless loop.

Mrs. Mell, or as she insisted I call her, mom made a huge homemade dinner and soon after, Micheal and I made our way upstairs to do our homework.
"You do know that I do actually love you, right."
He glanced up at me.
"I do now." He said, his face pink.
"That's all that matters."

"So-I have a perfect smile, huh?"

*muffled screams*
