Okay so this is loosely based off of the song 'popular' from Wicked (fight me) but I'm not going to be putting the actual song lyrics in.

This is flufffffff

Connors pov

"Zoe I need your help."

"Wait a minute," she started with a mischievous smile. "My brother - Connor Murphy - is asking me for help? I must admit, I did not see this coming!"

"Just shut up and help me Zo!"

She threw her hands up in defense. "Okay, okay! What is it?"

"How do I put this...just say there's this person you pass in the hall everyday. You've known him since seventh grade." I blush thinking back to cute lil 7th grade Evan.

"Hellooooo? Earth to Connor?"

"Sorry, um...you're used to thinking about him in a certain way, from the person that he displayed. And then nothing changes."

"...is there a point to this story con?"

"Yeah, just, I mean I thought I was over him but..." I trailed off.

"You're still madly in love with Evan Hansen, aren't you?"

"ZOE!!" I screamed, my face turning red.

"I'm just trying to tell the truth!" She giggled.

"Can you help me or not?!" I asked with desperation.

"Fine. But first we need to get you on his level. You have to think, this is Evan Hansen we're talking about. The Evan Hansen. If you want to be with the star football player, you're going to have to up your game."

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, you're right."

"Follow me." She said with a wide smile as she dragged me up the stairs and into her obnoxiously colorful room.

For the next 2 hours she taught me everything I would need to know to be, well, popular.

Along with the "quick" lesson, she made some -minor- changes to my appearance.

. . .

"I don't know zo...are you sure?"

"Trust me, he's going to love it!" She said with a cheerful smile.

I looked in the mirror, trying to get used to the "new Connor Murphy" as Zoe put it. I would have to get used to it if I ever wanted a shot with Evan Hansen.

My hair was straightened for once and pulled up into a high ponytail with a bright red scrunchy. (A/N I smell a heathers reference)

As for my face, well, it was...different. Glittery silver eyeshadow covered my lids and (despite my protest) I was wearing false eyelashes.

My jawline and cheekbones were contoured and my lips were covered with a bubblegum pink lipgloss.

I was wearing a black button up shirt with tight black jeans and heels.

After a 20 minute lesson about how to walk in heels, I was off.

I had messaged Evan and asked him to meet me at a nearby park. I parked my car and took a deep breath.

Did I really want to do this?
No.
Did I feel even a little bit comfortable in what I was wearing?
No.
Did I feel like throwing up right now?
Yes.
