John's POV
Today was the day. The day I could finally be happy again. The day I'd been waiting for for 14 months. The day my dear Alexander would come back home.
It'd been a little over a year since I had to bid Alex ado and send him off to war. I have been nothing but anxious since the moment he left on that cold December day.
*Flashback*
"Jacky, I'll be back before you know it, I swear." Alex said with tears in his eyes.
I held back my sobs. I had to be strong for him.
"Just please, promise me you'll stay safe. I cannot bear a world without you in it." I whispered, silent tears rolling down my eyes.
All he could do was nod, wrapping me up in his arms.
Before he turned to leave, I quickly took off my jacket, handing it to him.
"So you won't forget about me."
He let out a laugh filled with such sadness and leaned in, giving me one final kiss before he parted.
*end of flashback*
I rolled out of bed and walked to the closet. Oh how I yearned for it to be once again filled with his clothes. I slipped on the jacket I had given him when he departed. We had been sending it back and forth, savoring the scent of one another.
I put on a touch of mascara and some light blue eyeshadow, Alexander's favorite, and walked to my car.
I couldn't help but smile driving to the airport, the thought of seeing my long lost lover once again flooded my mind.
As I arrived at the airport, a single thought loomed like a cloud over my happiness. What if he had moved on? Could he have found someone else while over seas? Or perhaps simply decided I was of no use to him any longer. I pushed these thoughts out of my head as I sat patiently waiting for Alex.
Soon their plane landed and floods of men walked through the airport, being happily greeted by their families.
Then, a certain, handsome man walked through.
"Alexander!" I shouted from across the crowds of people.
"Jacky!" A familiar voice shouted back.
We sprinted toward one another like a scene from some cheesy romance film. Soon enough, I was being held by my dearest Alexander.
It was almost as if he had never left. As if he had stayed in my arms forever on that December day.
Eventually, he pulled away. Only to meet his lips with mine, of course. Kissing him made a million memories flood back.
"You have no idea how much I've missed you, dear Laurens." He muttered onto my lips once he pulled away.
"Back to a last name basis now, are we? Well, I have my eye on you Hamilton." I teased
He lightly pushed my shoulder as we headed towards luggage pickup. Eager to get back home.
Home.It was never the same without Alex in it. They say home is where your heart is. And now, I finally had my home back.
A/N : hello lovelies!! Coming back with a little bit of lams because I'm actual trash! Thank you for putting up with my weird updating schedule. And, as always, stay safe lovelies! <3
