"Seeing as the store has been doing so well, Jon and I decided to recruit another member," Spencer explains, "so that's where Bren comes in!"
Mt eyes barely drift to Spencer before meeting Brendon's again.
He really does have nice eyes.
"Hi," Brendon grins and holds out a hand for me to shake.
I don't say anything but continue to smile.
"Oh, Ry's not talking at the moment," Spencer says to the new kid.
"May I ask why?" He enquires.
Spencer looks at me for approval before explaining that I am getting over a pretty rough breakup. I shut my eyes tight, willing myself not to cry. Not in front of Brendon.
"Brendon get back here!!" Comes Jon's booming voice from the back room.
Thank God for Jon Walker.
"See you around, I guess," Brendon says with a small wave, before disappearing into the back room.
I definately don't stare as he walks away.

"He's in a band, you know," says Spencer casually as he sits next to me on my couch in my comfy apartment, away from any other human interaction. It takes me a minute to figure out that he's talking about Brendon. Seriously, what's his obsession?
I raise my eyebrows as if to say 'And...?'
"A pop-punk band."
My interest spikes and I look at Spencer, hoping he'll elaborate. He doesn't.
"Well, I'd better be off," he says instead, "I've got a date."
My eyebrows shoot up again, surprised.
"No need to look so surprised!" He rolls his eyes at me.
"Her name's Linda," he sighs as he stares off dreamily. He must really like this girl.
He snaps back to reality as he says, "I gave Bren your number by the way. I thought it'd be nice if you two got to know eachother. You really need to get back on your feet, Ry."
I shoot him a glare.
"Now, I'm not saying you have to find a new girlfriend immediately, but Brendon's band is playing on Friday. I thought you might want to go... maybe meet a girl?" He adds hopefully.
"Well, I'm off to Vicky's!"
Vicky's is my favourite place in the world (apart from the record store obviously) but it is also the place where I met Keltie.
It's the place where we had our first date.
The place where she broke up with me.
I must have gone into a daze, as Spencer waves his hand in from of my face.
"Think about it," he smiles his usual bright smile and leaves.
I don't think I'll ever go back, now, to Vicky's.
My eyes well up and I try to think about something else.
I might keep in touch with Vicky. The owner of the café was always sweet to me.
Sighing, I get up off the couch and decide to get an early night's sleep, even though I've been doing nothing but sleeping since our breakup.
Our breakup.
It's funny, I still refer to Keltie and I as 'Us'.
Except it isn't funny at all.

My phone buzzes, waking me suddenly from what I can only guess was a nightmare. I don't remember it but I am covered in cold sweats.
I check the time. 11:08. Who's texting me at 11o'clock at night??
I grab my phone from off of my bedside table. The text is from an unknown number. It reads:
'hey, ryan, it's brendon from spence and jons records. was wondering if you wanted to come round the store tomorrow, i wanna get to know you a bit better'
Well, that's very outgoing of him, I think.
Why not? There's no harm in going back to the store tomorrow, even if I still refuse to speak.
I text back a simple 'sure' and it's the first thing I've said in a while- even though I didn't actually say it.
Well, I guess I'm seeing Brendon tomorrow.
I can't help but wonder why he wants to see me in the first place- maybe it's my mysterious silence that intrigues him? I guess I won't find out 'til tomorrow.
