"So, tell me about you," Brendon jokes, knowing that I am going to remain silent.
I roll my eyes playfully and point at him instead.
"Me?"
I nod.
"Okay well... I was born in St. George but I grew up here in Vegas."
I nod again, implying that I too grew up in Vegas.
"I have two brothers and two sisters," he continues, "and I am 22."
I don't really know what to do now, as I definately am not going to reply- at least not with words.
"And I'm gay."
Oh. You don't hear that very often nowadays. Not that I mind.
My surprise must show in my face because Brendon says, "Don't worry, I won't hit on you."
"Unless you want me to," he adds with a playful wink.
"Now tell me something about you! Write it down or something."
I immediately walk across the room and open the drawers where the paper and pens are. Brendon looks surprised that I knew where they lived.
'ive been coming to this place since i was 16, i know where the paper lives'
I write on the paper and smile as he reads it.
"Yay! Finally I get communication!" He grins, "So... do you have any siblings?"
'no'
I scribble.
"Hmm, what are your hobbies, then?"
I don't need the paper for this one. I turn and point at the acoustic guitar behind me.
"Oh cool. Jon said you like pop-punk..?"
He phrases it like a question. I nod.
"Me too! I'm actually friends with a few pop'punk musicians. Have you heard of My Chemical Romance?"
I nod again because I have. Their music is some of the best in the genre. Unfortunately unappreciated, though.
"I know them, like, in person," he says enthusiastically.
I smile, impressed.
"Do you... do you want to meet them?" He asks.
I raise my eyebrows and nod once more, because there isn't much else I can do. Wow, I can't imagine meeting them. The thought has always been an impossibility to me.
"I can introduce you!"
Hell, the new kid's nice.
"On one condition..."
Knew it.
"You have to talk to me. Seriously I'm bored of the whole 'silence' thing."
Oh.
Well, it would be going against my oath not to talk ever again so I can't get attached so I can't be rejected. Not again.
Oh well.
You only live once, right?
"Fine." I say.~~~~~
So Brendon and I are on our way to some bar, after having called and arranged a meeting with My Chem's frontman Gerard Way and the guitarist Frank Iero.
I can barely believe it.
I'm also trying to get over the fact that I spoke to Brendon- some pretty boy that I barely know- and I still haven't spoken to Spencer.
Oh well. He'll get over it. But just in case, I decide to mention it to Brendon as he drives us towards meeting my idols.
"Hey, Brendon?"
He looks at me and raises his eyebrows, "So you're talking again are you?"
I ignore him.
"I'd actually appreciate it if you didn't mention to Spencer that I spoke to you... he can get kinda jealous."
He smiles and turns back towards the road, "Sure."
I should never be trusted to drive a vehicle of any kind. I am a lousy driver.~~~~~
We arrive at the bar, but Brendon hesitates before getting out the car.
"You know they're gay?" He says.
"Uhh, no I didn't know that," I reply, because I absolutely didn't know that.
"That's okay, right? You don't mind?"
I don't know if he's talking about himself or the men inside the bar, but I smile all the same.
"Course not."
He sighs and seems relieved.~~~~~
The bar is alot less sleazy than I thought it was going to be. There are even some booths for people to sit in and-
There they are. My heart skips a beat.
They are sitting in one of the booths, holding hands.
'That's sweet," I think to myself. You don't see openly gay men enough nowadays.
I look at Brendon and he looks at me. We smile.~~~~~
