I threw the door open and breathed in heavily before walking in. I looked at everyone and gave them the biggest, friendliest smile I could muster. I tried to look as gentle as I could; as normal as I could.
"Hello! I..." I began, but their eyes made me falter. They all stared at me with wide globes, some of them dropping whatever they were holding and lowering their jaws in shock. I looked at my deep, purple hands, then back at them. They didn't seem fond of seeing me. In fact, they seemed scared.
"N-Now don't be frightened, I...I'm a friend." I said. They didn't respond to me. I could feel my breathing speeding up, my eyes scanning wildly around. I scratched at my arm, taking a couple of steps back.
To make matters worse, Golden Freddy stomped out, looking around, but then his gaze settled on me. He didn't look at me with the same expression as everyone else; he appeared to have one of pure malice and contention.
"Who...are you?" He asked from across the room, disappearing all of a sudden, and then reappearing next to me. I jolted, and stepped back, and he made up for every step I took backwards toward me. His black, cold eyes were boring deep into mine, and he had a somewhat murderous intent. I knew what he could do. I had to either play my cards right or accept my death.
"Unless you somehow prove you're deaf, tell me who. You. Are." He snapped, grabbing me by the arm and pulling me forward. His nose was inches from mine. I had to think of something, fast. I didn't have a name besides the nickname Nightmare gave me, and the Nightmarionne also called me by it...
"Sh-Shadow Freddy!" I stuttered.
"There's no such thing. You're some kind of monster, and I don't like monsters. So I'm going to kill you now." He snarled. He rose his hand to strike my face, but a sudden hand grabbed him and dragged him back.
Spring Bonnie wrestled him away, causing me to fall to the ground and look up helplessly at them. Golden Freddy let out his animatronic roar and stood up, glaring at Spring Bonnie.
"What on- what are you thinking, you absolute idiot?! How dare you lay your hand on me?!" he roared. Spring Bonnie glared at him and sighed, folding his arms and tilting his head a little.
"You're acting weird, Golden Freddy, everyone here notices it. This poor robot probably came from somewhere hard and you're treating him like garbage."
"That's because he probably is garbage, Spring Bonnie!" Golden Freddy retorted. The tall rabbit narrowed his eyes.
"We let Nightmare Freddy in here, and it was worth it! He was kind, defended us from danger for the rest of his life, rest his soul...how do we know we shouldn't trust this person?" He asked. Golden Freddy opened his mouth to argue, but closed it, knowing Spring Bonnie's argument was indeed valid.
"Well, letting in Nightmare Freddy also introduced us to the Nightmarionne. We could be killed, Spring Bonnie, does that not cross your mind?" he snarled.
"Does it cross yours?" the aged animatronic said bluntly. Golden Freddy looked at him with an expression I can only describe as one that was a frothing, terrible brew of anger and irritation, along with annoyance and absolute rage. He was fuming so badly, he was sputtering out words and trying to get them out the best he could. Everyone was shocked at how mad Golden Freddy was. They stared at him with wide, shocked eyes.
"Fine. Fine! He can stay for all I care." He turned toward me again.
"But he will never be one of us. Ever. He's too different, too...incapable." he growled. I clenched my fists.
"Incapable?! I have half the mind to-" I was cut off by Spring Bonnie.
"Be careful, you're just going to make him angrier..." he said. Golden Freddy gave Spring Bonnie the worst glare I had ever seen as he walked by. Angrily, the rabbit watched him go, then turned back to me with another gentle look.
"Listen, I have no idea what's wrong with him, no one does...but you came at sort of a bad time. Everything's going awry, and no one is really safe. How come you came?" he asked. I looked down in silence for a moment. I couldn't tell him about how I had basically spied on them for the entirety of my life and their lives. It'd just freak them out more about who or what I am.
Now begins the harder part.
I needed to begin planning. If I didn't find out where who who people were, then I wouldn't be able to get to Nightmare or try and claw my way to power. Thankfully, I think the Nightmarionne was watching me. That was also a curse and a blessing.
I then remembered Spring Bonnie was talking to me.
"How come I came? Oh, I just...needed to see." I replied. He looked at me with a risen brow.
"See...what?" He questioned. I've already dug myself a hole, I looked inattentive and like I didn't care. I needed to step it up; bonding is important.
"Are you alright?" He asked, as he saw I was visibly shaking. I cleared my throat and straightened my bowtie.
"Yes, yes, perfectly fine. I came to see if you all would accept me; it's hard being alive in a world where people hardly knew you existed. So it's nice to see such a 'warm' welcome." I replied. He chuckled softly.
"Yeah, Golden Freddy is definitely the greatest one, huh? Here, let me introduce you to everyone." he smiled warmly and started leading me toward the other robot. I was baffled at how naive he was and how willing he was to just lead a stranger to let him know all about the robots within. The others, when we approached...didn't seem so enthusiastic.
They glared up at me with suspicion.
"Alright, so here we have Fredbear, Freddy..." My mind started roaming as I drowned out his words and stared blankly off. A feeling was forming inside of me, one that I didn't like. Was it guilt? Anxiety? Shame? I wouldn't know, I've hardly experienced all three at all. I tried to push it to the back of my mind. I needed to stay here, if I wanted to become their leader and to please the Nightmarionne. I did not want to break our deal.
"Did you get all that, buddy?" Spring Bonnie cheerfully asked me. I jolted out of my thoughts.
"Yes, yes, I got it all." I lied. I already knew their names. He grinned and patted me on the shoulder, looking at me with his enthusiastic, green eyes.
"Welcome to the family." He said.
