Thank all that is holy, my prayers were answered.

Occasionally, Nightmare would come by to reassure the animatronics that he knew what he was doing and that he was keeping the Nightmarionne away from them and other menial things that I didn't care about.

Nightmare stepped into the building that night, his expression the usual grim and his claws and teeth shining in the dim light. Most of the animatronics were afraid of him, except for Springtrap and Golden Freddy.

"You'd better be fast, Nightmare. I don't like it when you're here." the Marionette said, his voice tinged with fear. Nightmare's ear flicked and he sighed.

"There's not much to explain...besides that for now, as usual, you're all safe. There is no imminent danger. As the Nightmarionne tries to get closer, I manage to bring him further." he explained.

"Good. Good to hear. Now go." the Marionette snapped.

"Now now, Marionette, it's been cold lately and poor Nightmare has been going everywhere. Are you sure you don't want to stay?" Golden Freddy asked. Nightmare chuckled a bit.

"Your guard dog here seems to be worried I might sink my teeth into one of you. I never really was one for robot metal...Nightmarionne tried to get me hooked on it, but I hated the taste and the crunch even more." he explained. Everyone stared at him and laughed nervously as he bellowed his own laughter. I chuckled along with him, even if no one could hear me.

"Haha, very funny, Nightmare, now please leave." The puppet said nervously.

"Please, stay awhile!" Golden Freddy said before asking the black bear to bend down to allow him to whisper into his ear. I strode over and leaned in, listening to it.

"Springtrap has been getting feisty, Nightmare, and I think you should have a talk with him. I don't want to hate him, since Spring Bonnie doesn't want to hate him. And I can sense the guilt in him. Can you straighten him out?" Golden Freddy muttered. Nightmare's brow furrowed and he stood up straight, nodding.

"Basement, right? Cold place to keep him..." The Nightmare leader mumbled.

"Fits his heart perfectly..." The Marionette grumbled. Golden Freddy shot him a warning glance.

Nightmare stomped over toward the basement, animatronics quickly moving out of his way, afraid of him. But of course, he didn't seem phased. I followed close behind, and let out a chuckle at the other robots. And to my astonishment...the bear paused. He looked behind himself and looked straight at me. Not through me, at me. He gave me a glare before turning my way and weaving his way around me, then toward Golden Freddy.

"There are...only you children's souls here, right?" he asked. The yellow bear rose a brow at the question.

"Y-Yes, I would hope so...why?" he asked.

"No reason. Just...I keep seeing things out of the corner of my eye." he replied. Nightmare looked back at me and frowned, then made his way to the basement again. I followed in close pursuit, curious and confused. Did he know I existed? If so, why wasn't he talking to me?!

When we managed to make our way downstairs, Nightmare cleared his throat and Springtrap looked up at him, his purple eyes piercing the darkness. The two looked at each other for a bit, and a sense of awkwardness grew. Nightmare just descended down the rest of the steps and sat down in front of Springtrap.

"Let me see your leg." he said. Springtrap narrowed his eyes, but complied. He extended his mangled leg toward the bear. The retired leader studied it silently, but carefully.

"Have you seen...anything out of the ordinary lately?" he asked. Springtrap's brow furrowed with concern.

"No. Should I?" he replied. Nightmare just let out a reassuring chuckle.
