Chapter 15 - Appropriate Rank

Author note: I'm trying to make each chapter longer from Now on, without making it boring, hope you guys like it, and I don't know why, I always feel motivated to write story only in exam... that a bit hmm well odd well anyway hope you like the chapter.

The story:

As another day arise, I wake up feeling refreshed after what happen last night... I seated myself on the bed with both my legs crossed, hugged the pillow on the bed. Having my consciousness full awoken, I get up from the bed and went to the bath directly. As I finish I took a brand new set and put it on, this is something for adventuring so it's a little bit unstylish but why did I start to think about style... it was a black dress that hovers way above the knee but still covers that part a little, so I used a white tight short to go along​ with it. I put on the belt diagonally and attach the sword to the belt and I'm ready to go.

I have everything covered, a house, clothes, money and a job, I think I could have a nice life here, that is if I could keep the fact I'm a succubus hidden, but so far it's good.

I stretch my arm and energetically yelled, "let's do this!"

I left the room and locked it first. While walking to the guild which is near from my place, I looked at my status, which show that I leveled up quite a lot after that hunting on the forest, from 8 to approximately 18, which is a high number of level, but I don't think that one level is how will people do in battle, especially with people who actually trained more will probably have higher advantage in a fight even though his or her level is lower. (Which is true, one level doesn't determine the performance of one people but just raw power.)

I have learned from Martial art in my world, and that's reassuring to have with me, since it have helped me with hunting so far. Even with raw power, if one doesn't know how to use it, they will either succumb to the power, or they will be killed in battle, so that's why.

As I entered the guild hall, it was as lively as ever, they had people at every corner of the build talking to each other or preparing for a mission, or accepting a request.

So I went to the receptionist which is empty, this time it wasn't John but someone else, it was a cat eared demi human with a bob cut brown hair, and a flight attendant uniform, it was quite a sight to look at, definitely big... she asked me with a snare on her face, "could it be you're jealous... and is there anything I could help?"

I was taken aback by what she said, she was too self conscious about it ugh...

"Ahh... no" I waved both my hand and shaking my head denying it, "I was just looking for an appropriate job, I just ranked up so I don't know which quest is the best for first one, so I decided to ask the staff here." I said flustered.

"Hmmm" she, she tilted her head, "by any chance are you new to this guild, I have never seen you before?"

"Ah... yeah I just registered two days ago." I replied.

"So you ranked up to before taking the rank placement test?" she asked me and I was confused by what she mean, and seeing that I don't know a thing she make a disappointed sigh, and then she muttered, "ahh... that john, he didn't even tell her about the rank placement test, even though at that time there are no test, he should have told her earlier that the test will be hold after the hero ceremony..."

"There's rank placement test, I haven't heard that from John..." I said tilting my head, and The receptionist jush make a disappointment sigh.

"Anyway, at the time you're registering all of our staff member were begging to see the hero ceremony, there were some that didn't mind seeing, and one of them was john..." she sigh, "but anyway, as we're now back in business with all of our staff, we can start the Placement test." she said leaving her counter, and she ask me to follow her to the training ground.

There were also several people there, there's not much girls participating, mostly buffed guys with giant sword and people wearing robe, isn't it just typical.

So as people waiting their name get called and they went inside the door that was on the wall of the training ground, some after went in became very excited, some became very down. It's probably a fight against someone, someone that's at a high position.

As my name was called I entered the room beyond the door, the room felt that there's something protecting it, as I fully entered the room, everything was dark, well not everything, the wall was black, and although there's a lot of light applied, it still look dark.

"So welcome to our newly training ground, sorry if it look gloomy, but this is something that will protect the structure of this building from physical attack and magical attack." one man said with an aura of that who had been in the business of adventuring for decades, he might be the master of the guild.

"So you're fighter huh, well, choose whom you'll be fighting from these three fellow." the man like showcasing the three people. There's a mage if I assume that people with robes are, there's swordsman, and lastly there's a martial artist.

For right now I think I'll just challenge the swordsman, he seems capable of being my first human opponent.

We got into our position and the swordsman was already having his horses ready, as the man who was in charge said start, the swordsman take the initiative to charge first. His style of choice was the one hand style slash, where there's a lot of opening on that style if one is not that familiar with how things work. His first attack was from bottom right slashing upward diagonally to the left side, I quickly dodge it by moving further backward, but as expected, he's someone who had enough experience in fighting. He left no opening and he immediately aimed for my lower half after that swing, and with the rapier I blocked it barely.

Seems he's pretty serious in defeating me, I think he had lost to someone just now, I chose the wrong opponent hah?

I pushed the sword away giving me sometime to back away from him, and he muttered, "Hou, interesting" as he also slightly readied himself once more.

I dash toward him trying to thrust my rapier toward him while constantly also trying to block his attack, his controlling speed with that sword was almost flawless, it a perfect flow of movement, and at the same time I also attack with incredible speed and flawless movement. He was able to block all that thrust, and I too was able to block his counter attack. It was when he thought he got me, he shows a big enough opening for me to strike quitely toward his neck, and he dropped his weapon as he noticed that.

He seems pissed but it seems that he enjoyed the fight, "indeed a fair fight, last time the participant that challenge me was someone who excel both in sword and magic, I thought that I had him, but that man use magic to knock me out." he said.

"Indeed a marvelous performance, defeating someone who's an A rank with swords only, it seems you're one talented person" the man said giving an applause, "We welcome you to our guild, and as for your rank it will be placed in B rank, since you also need to gain trust not just skills, we will put you on B rank, Oh and I almost forgot, I'm the master of the Guild, Jerret Kuqo, pleasure to have you on our guild Miss Eri"

Houu as I expected, that man was the Guild master. So I increased my rank quite high after coming to the guild huh, that was unexpected.

I left the room with happy face because of this development, so I could hunt something even bigger.

I went to the counter where that cat beastwoman where and asked for a rank raise after the test. She showed quite a surprised look, "Amazing, to actually get placed in B rank, congratulation." she said as the card was given back to me, "It should be fine if you pick anything in the B rank, I believe that you're strong enough to do any quest in the B rank if you do defeat sir Jacques." she said with a polite tone, as if seeing someone who's greater than her.

Is that so, well the change of impression was an impact for me, but whatever, I could do quest that pays a bit more now, that great.

"Is that so, then thank you very much..."

"Ah... no problem, it's my pleasure to help." she said.
