I saw her by the sea

With her skin of blue and green

Far away from me

She never moved

She beckoned me forward

And I drew close

Where the water bordered

she pulled me into the drink

Dragging me down

Into the deep

I thought I might drown

But i took a peep

Old heads caught in a net

There were

Moaning and groaning in the current

Not dead yet

Amongst the head

That filled me with disgust

There was that women that lead

That made my heart erupt

Her name was not known

At least to me

These heads are not her own

They were lost at sea

She spoke like a river’s current

And told me her name

I had not known  where i went

And for not knowing her name

I felt a small shame

“I am Rán”

“Goddess of storms and the drowned dead”

“Wife of Aegir”

“God of the sea”

“These heads of man”

“Died in the ocean you see”

“These heads are now mine”

“Property of me”

“You will find things that shine”

“At the bottom of my net in the sea”

“A collector I am”

“These objects i cram”

“Inside my net”

“Pardon the forgetfulness of me”

I say to Rán
