Our final day of school arrived in a flash; as is customary, we all gathered in the School Hall after break, for our ‘Leaver’s Assembly’. This is where various teachers attempt to either embarrass us all with cheesy awards, or bore us to death with long-winded speeches. Nevertheless, we were all excited, as it marked the end of our 5 years in High School:
After the Head of Year, and Deputy Head made their speeches, Abby was surprised to see that her girlfriend then took to the stage, distributing certificates for academic excellence. Her light-hearted comments about the various pupils all went down with a laugh from the pupils. One by one, each of the pupils came to receive their rewards, until Sarah reached the final one.
"And last, but certainly not least, this final award comes from my very own department: the English Learning Centre. Now, this student has been a hindrance right from the start – no, Madam, no matter how much photographic evidence you can produce from Twitter, a celebrity throwing paint at you doesn’t get you out of doing your homework!" This was greeted with an uproar of laughter from the pupils sat below. “And we have seen her blossom from the shy little girl that walked in here nearly 5 years ago, into the beautiful, intelligent, caring young woman we have today. I present this final award to Miss Abby Williams.” She finishes with a smile as Abby stepped gracefully onto the stage.
As she handed me the award, their eyes met for a second too long, then Sarah swooped down and planted a soft kiss onto my cheek. “You did good, Madam.” She said, as Abby took the certificate and left the stage.
“Class of 2014!” Sarah finished, as the entire hall cheered.
“But,” She started again, grasping the guitar off stage. “I have one last thing to do. Join in when you know the words.”
Sarah stepped back onto the stage, confidently glancing at those around, took a deep breath and, gently plucking the guitar, she began to sing, never moving her gaze from Abby:
“Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life…”
The hall was spellbound, as Sarah's hypnotic voice carried through the room; everyone began to quietly sing along. Sarah was entranced, her blue eyes brimming with tears, hanging on to every syllable uttered in the song. The silent plea of the lyrics didn't escape Abby; this is a “fork in the road” for their relationship – Abby is leaving school – but the love and desire she feels for the beautiful woman singing in front of her.
No matter what happens.
Sarah strummed the final chord, the stunned teenagers applauded enthusiastically, and she departed from the stage, re-joining the other teachers at the side of the stage. The rest of the assembly washed over her, eager to finish and congratulate with her girlfriend.
“Year 11,” The Head of Year closed the assembly. “I don’t wish you luck, I wish you success in all you do. For the final time, away you go!”
As the party and chaos began, Abby turned and, once again, her eyes met Sarah's; the silent message conveyed heightened the tension between them. Abby moved towards Sarah and they both slipped out of the hall, a comfortable silence falling between them as they walked down the corridor.
They stopped outside U7 - meeting in that particular classroom had been a common occurrence during the course of their relationship. Sarah opened the door, unlocked the cupboard and dragged her rather confused girlfriend inside the store room, roughly pushing Abby up against the now closed door…
***In the hall***
“Where’s Sarah gone?” Caroline Parris asked her colleagues, still chatting with pupils in the hall. She scoured the room, but couldn’t catch sight of the younger teacher. Surprised, as she had assumed Sarah would want to stay and chat to her students, confusion washed over her as she attempted to locate her. Approaching a group of pupils nearby, she tapped Georgie on the shoulder, and asked if she’d seen Mrs Proctor – she knew Georgie was in her English class.
“Nope – haven’t seen her. Sorry, Miss.” Georgie said with a shrug.
Suddenly, it dawned on Caroline. “Where’s Abby?” she asked.
“No idea either, Miss. I think she just popped to the loo or something…” Georgie trailed off, but Caroline was already heading for the exit…
***Back in the Store Cupboard***
As the kiss deepened, Abby was a little taken aback, but nonetheless excited by her girlfriend’s sudden dominance.
“I thought you vowed not to do this again,” Abby started with a smirk, as Sarah’s mouth moved to her neck.
“Yeah, well I figured we ought to do this one more time, for old time’s sake…” Sarah responded, both of them moaning with pleasure as their arousal increased.
“But what about not showing affection in school?” Abby asked again, unable to supress her sighs as her girlfriend’s hand travelled lower.
“Just shut up, Madam, and let me have you!” Sarah said with a devilish smirk, continuing her movements.
They were so wrapped up in their own little world, they didn’t notice store room door burst open…
A/N: Oooh, cliffhanger! It’s the return of the store cupboard from Chapter 2 :D LOL! And, a bit of Inspector Parris for @smudgewatch – promise she’s gonna feature heavily in the next chapter ;) So yeah…my leaver’s wasn’t quite like that, but I tried to do a fairly generic one with my FAVE song thrown in there; if you didn’t recognise the Green Day song, then please take the nearest available exit :P Nah, but it’s just AWESOME XD Anyone else leaving school this year? I am, and it’s SO DEPRESSING :( Oh well, shall now depart to Bedfordshire (bed, btw). Or perhaps just write the next chapter now? Who needs sleep when you can update your online story?! :P Till next time, Amiee xxx
