Chapter Fourteen

3 DAYS LATER

LOLA

I'd been kept under house arrest along with Lynn at the coven house, both our families being manipulated into believing we were just having a sleepover at one another. Ricky and Ash wanting to keep us safe after the attack on Vinny which left him transitioning into a vampire.

"He looks so peaceful. His neck doesn't even look like it was ripped out three days ago."

Lynn sits next to Vinny who was resting in Ryan's bed and strokes his hair.

Ryan chuckles softly, "he's healing which means he should wake up soon."

I shuffle on the spot at the end of the bed, "none of this would have happened if I hadn't come to town guys."

"Don't say that Lola. We were here way before you, it was only time before myself and Ash found their mates. If anything you sped up the timeline."

Ryan gets up from his chair and walks over to me before placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder. It did little to change my mind, but I did find some comfort in his gesture and words. I didn't want to get any more of my friends killed.

"Shit guys he just moved, I think he's waking up," Lynn squeals, and jumps up from her chair as Vinny's body shifts under the covers.

"We'll give you some time alone. Come on Lynn."

I usher my still human friend out of the room and close the bedroom. Vinny needed Ryan to be there when he woke up, also we saw what Denis did to Vinny and neither Lynn or I fancied being Vinny's dinner.

"You know Ash went back to your house to grab you some things before we came here, Lynn. I kind of want to go back to mine and get some things."

"No, you will not Miss target number one for the bitchy witch in town. Lynn and I will go and grab you some things if you give us a list."

Ash appears out of the shadows though I'm pretty sure she was there the whole time watching an listening to us while we were in Ryan's room with Vinny. I hated that other people wanted to do things for me, it made me feel weak when I knew I wasn't.

"Are you sure Ash? I don't want to be a bother."

Ash snorts, "please, it will do me some good to get out of the house. Besides the others have gone out feeding and left me behind to babysit."

I nod, if she really wanted to do this for me then I had no problem. I'd just need a couple of minutes to come up with a list to give to Lynn.

"Did you only drag me along to get some alone time Ash?"

I smirk before turning my head to face Lynn, who was pouting while keeping her fingers entwined in mine. I really did get the luck of the draw with my mate.

"Maybe that was part of the reason. We don't have to rush back to the house, the guys will be gone a little while longer,"

Lynn giggles as use the spare key Lola had given us to enter the house which was empty, "I'll head upstairs to her room since I know where everything is."

She pecks me on the cheek before jogging upstairs leaving me in the hallway kind of bored. I didn't exactly like walking around other peoples homes when no one was around, it made the place seem dead.

"AH—" Lynn screams, a bloodcurdling scream that numbs all those around it to the core.

I vamp up the stairs and follow the scream into Lola's bedroom to see Lola's mum cackling towards Lynn before Emerald quite literally steps out of Lola's mum's body back into her own body. Holy shit Emerald really was right under our noses this whole time.
