nathan showed us around the house, making us get acquainted with the place. every so often i would see a random half naked female walk around.

"don't mind them. they're working." nathan said to me.

"working what? the poles?" i snickered.

"ella tiene bastante la boca. espero que lo aproveches bien." nathan said to jason. the only thing i could get out of that was boca which is mouth and bien which was good.

"oh believe me. i've been trying to but i don't think she's getting the hint." jason replied. so jason was bilingual now. let's add that to the list of things he didn't tell me.

we ended back up where we started and nathan left us to do whatever it was we pleased. i had no clue what the hell to do with myself so i went outside to the backyard. the backyard was almost half as decent as the front yard and inside. the sliding door opened and closed behind me and out came jason, walking and standing next to me.

"what did he say?"

"what did who say?" jason questioned.

"nathan. what did he say about me earlier?"

"who says we were talking about you?"

"i know you're not playing dumb with me right now." i said in a matter-of-fact tone. "know what? forget it. i'm sure i wouldn't like to hear it if it was in english anyways."

"he didn't say anything bad. he just said you talked too much." jason continued. "why always assume the worst, rhodes?"

"it's just my nature." i shrugged my shoulders. "it's shocking not seeing you gawk over the girls here. can't even deny that they're pretty." i began examining the group of them by the poolside.

"why should i gawk over them? i like my women simple and kept to themselves. i especially like when they get angry or when they get defensive. it's cute."

that reminded me of someone and that someone just so happened to be me. i don't think i was simple and kept to myself but, he enjoyed getting me angry or saying things that would cause me to get defensive. he had an interesting way with being sneaky about things.

"i'm sure you'll find that woman some day." i replied.

"sucks because i'm--"

"jason! we got some info about matt and jackson's whereabouts!" jeff butted in. oh, perfect timing jeffrey! i think we were just getting to the part where he was saying that i was the woman he wanted, or not. better not get my hopes up.

jason ran inside the house leaving me on the patio, watching the girls like a weirdo. i got bored and went inside as well to hear the intel.

"we got them where we want! boys, i think we're going home a lot quicker than you think!" jason exclaimed. "listen here, aly! we could be home in less than a week."

"what's up? what happened?" i inquired.

"matt and jackson are just a couple towns over. they're in newport and if we plan this correctly, i could get chantel back."

"that's sounds good." i smiled. "play your cards right and good luck. anyways, if you'll excuse me. i want to get to know the area better."

"wait," jason said, causing me to stop. "i want to join you."

"suit yourself." i shrugged my shoulders. i went to put my shoes on and grab a light sweater. you could never go wrong with a sweater. jason put on his shoes and grabbed the car keys.

he unlocked the car and i immediately hopped into the driver's seat.

"absolutely not." jason said while walking outside. "rhodes, for the sake of my sanity and yours, get out of my seat."

"why? think i can't drive?" i raised an eyebrow.

"i know you can but, i would kindly appreciate if you would just move over to the passenger seat. i don't let anyone drive my cars." he continued. "and i mean that last part."

"it's just one time though," i pouted, sticking my bottom lip out.

"must i do everything myself?" jason mumbled. i wasn't really sure what that was supposed to mean until i saw him walking over towards me. he set his things down on the hood before reaching inside the car and grabbing me, carrying me over to the passenger seat and throwing me in.

"what a man you are." i joked. maybe to him i was joking but to me, i wasn't. little things always mattered no matter what and how small they were.

"that wasn't that hard." jason sighed getting into the car with his things. he started the engine and we began our joyride around town.

"oh look! they have in-and-out!" i pointed at the building on one of the side streets. "we should go there one day. i've always wanted to go there since i was a kid."

"it's just a burger joint. what's so great about it?" jason replied in a snobbish tone.

"and you're just a big time criminal. what's so great about you?" i retorted.

jason glanced over at me, sending me an are-you-serious look, before putting his eyes back on the road. "i could say an entire list of the great things about me. where should i start? i have a great personality. i can get a job done in record time. i can be a good guy when needed. did i mention that i have a wicked pull out game?"

it took my brain a moment to process that before i turned my head and gave jason a look of shock and disgust mixed together. i then thought of something even more snarky to say. "if your pull out game was so wicked, i don't think chantel would've been conceived, baby boo."

"you really know how to eat up someone's ego." jason said. "i can't even lie and say that that didn't hurt my soul a little."

"call me the ego eater."
