we got back home and the place was extremely quiet. i had assumed everyone went to bed but it was only a little after nine. all the hard work the guys did today must've worn then out. i think overall, the hardworking they've done this past week has tired them out. even i'm a little tired myself.

jason on the other hand, had the energy of a five year old child. him and i hadn't gone to our own separate quarters because he said he wanted to talk to me. i didn't know about what but i was already fearful for my life.

"thank you." he said.

"for what," i gave him a look of confusion.

"everything. i can't name everything name for name but you've done a lot for me, so thank you." he continued. "anyways, how's your mom doing?"

what a quick topic change. i guess saying thank you was something foreign to jason.

"she's alright. still sick but somewhat improving." i replied. "you're really helping her, well us, big time."

"it's the least i can do for someone who's religiously sworn i was their worst enemy."

"you remember that still?" i wasn't physically cringing but mentally, hell yeah. "that's so embarrassing."

"it wasn't that long ago, butter cup. we've been in business for what? about a month or so?" he questioned. "and i like to remember what i want and that just so happens to be one of them."

"why do you call me that, butter cup?" i responded, now intrigued with the pet name he's been using recently. i've been questioning it in my mind for so long now and i thought it was best to question him about it.

"'cause i like it," he shrugged his shoulders. "i kind of hate calling you aly so, why not?"

"why not just call me rhodes then?"

"look, we can't always have what we want in this world." jason said. "at least i'm not calling you a bitch or anything."

fair point.

"so.. what's the move for the rest of the night?"

"i think i might catch some shut eye and think things through. i guess tomorrow i'll have to start training the guys," jason rolled his eyes. "anyways, 'night."

"goodnight." i replied back to him.

jason disappeared down the hall and went upstairs. i sat in the kitchen reminiscing about today. it was actually really decent. like i had no complaints besides the minor arguing but other than that, it was a good day. i too decided i should get some shut eye.

i more than likely had to participate in that training tomorrow.

i didn't bother taking a shower because i was going to take one in the morning. i stripped out of my clothes, only leaving myself in my tank top, undies and socks. my feet got cold during the night so that's why i kept them on. call me weird if you want but it's how i sleep.

i threw the sheets over my body and got settled in when i heard my phone buzzing in my pants pocket. come on. really? right now after i'm all comfortable? they'll probably get the memo i'm asleep and not call again.

once my phone stopped, i sighed out in relief and closes my eyes to fall asleep.

bzzzzzz...

my eyes flew open in rage. can a girl get just a little bit of sleep tonight? i waited again for the buzzing to stop and once it did, i attempted to go back to sleep only to have it buzz again.

"ugh!" i exclaimed, throwing the sheets off my body. "why must i do everything myself?" i got up from the bed and picked up my pants, fishing through the pockets for my phone. i took it out and didn't bother looking at the caller ID to see who it was.

"what?" i barked into the phone.

"damn. hello to you too. what's got your panties in a bunch?"

"brandon. it is eleven o'clock at night. what could you possibly want?"

"what crack are you smoking? it's only eight o'clock."

"timezones. what do you want? and make it quick before i hang up on you."

"right. i'm going to assume that you're in cali, right?"

"correct."

"anything popping off yet? you two seem be to acting like sitting ducks. i have to admit, jason normally doesn't do that. what'd you do to him?"

"literally nothing. i'm probably rubbing off on him. anyways, how's things in florida? how's my mom?"

"oh glad you brought her up! i actually saw her yesterday. she told me she was going home. like back to her house, not heaven if that's what you're thinking. haha."

"she's going home? since when? i thought she was sick?"

"she is but, the doctors said that she could be released because she's been improving. i don't know what they've been giving her but whatever it is, it's working. last time i saw her she was as sick as a dog!"

"the last time i saw her, which was not too long ago, she was sick. was she leaving with anyone?"

"i did see her leaving with someone but i'm not too sure who it was."

"right. well if you see or hear anything, please tell me at a reasonable time."

"will do. g'night rhodes."

"night."

i hung up my phone and placed it on my nightstand. curious as to what was outside my curtains, i opened them and got a look at the view. it wasn't much but on the bright side, i could see the beach from here.

i began looking around more and i could've sworn out the corner of my eye i saw something move in the yard. it's probably an animal, i thought to myself.

yeah, an animal that big? okay. it resembled more of a human than animal. i got a good look at them and i noticed they were staring straight at me. i didn't move away from my spot because i wanted to know what they were doing.

they held their pointer finger up to their lips, telling me to be quiet.

what in gods name was this person doing here?
