Plucking up my courage, I lead her farther into the room. In the center of the arbor, I sink onto one knee.
Kristen catches her breath, and her hands fly to her mouth. From my inside jacket pocket, I pull out the ring and hold it up for her.
“Do you get the feeling that everything is backward?” She asked. “Traditionally, shouldn’t you be arguing my side, and I yours?”
“There isn’t much that’s traditional about you and me.”
“True,” She agreed.
” I gazed at her beautiful face and looked into her deep green eyes. “I promise to love you forever—every single day of forever. Will you marry me?”
Kristen paused a moment before simply whispering, “Yes.”

I rose to my feet, wrapped my arms around her, and kissed her—my precious fiancée— with a heart full to overflowing.
Her tears start to fall in earnest but her smile eclipses the moon, the stars, the sun,the flowers in the house everything.
This woman who has dragged me into the light. This woman who loves me in spite of our complicated past in spite of our wrongdoings. This woman who’s agreed to be mine for the rest of her life. My girl. My Kristen My love Aka My Bella.
