I slept most of Wednesday away and didn't get up until it was almost time for Braxton to come home. I hope Johnny's news wasn't something else I would have to worry about. After I was ready I went downstairs to the living room and sat on the couch. My mind kept switching between the phone call and Johnny's news. If someone was to ask me what was happening on tv I wouldn't be able to answer them.
The door opened and Braxton and Johnny walked in. Let's get this over with."Go on Johnny tell her." Braxton said.
"You didn't tell her did you?" Johnny asked.
"He refused to." I said.
"Phoebe I think I have some information about your real family." he said sitting next to me.
"What? Really? Do you know who they are? What they're like?" I asked.
I know that I was just firing question after question at him but I was excited. Even if it was only a little lead it was something about my family. Maybe this could lead to something big.
"What is it?" I asked grinning from ear to ear.
"I think you might be my little sister." he said.
"What?"
"I know it sounds crazy but Noah and I had a little sister that went missing at the same age that you said your mother kidnapped you. Would you be willing to take a DNA test to see?"
I turned to look at Braxton.
"It's your choice." he said.
I turned back to Johnny.
"Yes I would be willing to take a DNA test." I said.
I couldn't believe that there was a possibility that I could be Johnny's sister. His real sister.
"Alright then. Is next week okay for you?" Johnny asked.
"Whenever you want." I said.
I hugged Johnny bye.
"I can't believe it." I told Braxton after Johnny had left.
"See you're close to finding your family." he said.
"I know. I mean it's not much but it's a step in the right direction."
"How do you feel?"
"Kind of glad that you didn't tell me."
"I told you that it'd sound better coming from him."
"Thank you."
"Why are you thanking me?"
"Because you've done so much for me and still are."
"Didn't I tell you before you don't have to thank me. I'm doing this because I want to."
"When are we going to put the stuff together for the twins?"
"I'm going to put their stuff together next week." he said emphasizing I'm.
"Why can't I help?"
"I don't want you to hurt yourself."
"Well can I at least help put together the rockers?"
"Fine. But that's all."
"We'll see about that." I mumbled.
"Did you say something?"
"No."
"Before we do that do you want to change the color of the room to make it look more like a nursery?"
"Yeah. You're going to paint it huh?"
"You can't do it. Pregnant women aren't supposed to breath in paint fumes. It isn't good for them or the baby or in your case babies."
"Go get changed I want to go pick the paint out today."
"Alright give me five minutes."
After he was dressed we headed to the mall.
"So do you have anything in mind for the nursery?" he asked.
"Not yet but I'm sure something will come to me." I said.
We spent about two hours at the mall before I decided on a color for the nursery. Braxton said that Johnny, Noah, and him would start painting tomorrow after school. That way the nursery would get done sooner. I wasn't allowed any where near the room while they were painting.
"So Braxton where am I suppose to sleep?" I asked.
"What do you mean?" he asked confused.
"Well you don't want me to breathe in the paint fumes but our room is right next to where the nursery is going to be. What kind of paint is it?"
"It matters?"
"Yes because there's a certain type of paint that pregnant women can be around."
"Imma look."
He held the paint can up to his face.
"I swear if you hit yourself in the face with that can I'm laughing." I said.
"Aww and you're not going to kiss it and make it better?" he asked sad.
He sounded like a hurt little kid.
"Of course I will." I said.
