Taking several deep breathes and scolding myself for being so naive, I somehow managed to get my tears under control.

Did I seriously expect someone as good looking and sweet as Daniel to fall for a girl like me?

It did not matter anyway. He apparently wanted me gone and I should want to go back to my old life. However, the truth was that I liked it here. I knew that I had not seen anything apart of the living room and the kitchen and just got to know a few people, but the warm feeling inside my chest told me that this here was a great place to be.

I sighed loudly and just then I heard a knock at my door.

Wondering who it was I made my way to the door and opened it only to see Macy on the other side.

Her brilliant smile instantly fell when she took in my face and I blushed, because I definitely did not want to share my unrequited feelings of love for her brother.

Wait did I just say love?

"What happened? What did he do?", Macy instantly wanted to know and an angry glint entered her green eyes.

I shook my head and replied: "No, it's...I'm just...so lost."

There we go, was not even a lie.

Macy's eyes immediately softened and she engulfed me in a hug.

"I promise you, you're going to love it here and we'll help you find your family again!"

Her sincere words made my eyesight blurry again and my hold on her tightened.

"Thanks Macy!"

She pulled back and beamed at me.

"Come on, I'll show you the house.", she told me in a cheery voice and pulled me out of my room.

Infected by her glee, I followed her and soon I found myself believing her, when she had told me earlier that a few clothes would not leave a dent regarding their finances.

This house was bigger than I had thought. While the rooms on the upper levels where bedrooms for several family members, Macy had a bedroom close to mine, the first floor and the basement where common rooms, consisting of the living room, kitchen, a bathroom, a play room (for the kids) and, my favourite, a theater.

My eyes had widened when I had taken in the big screen and the comfortable looking chairs.

Macy had immediately noticed my delighted expression and told me: "We have regular movie nights here and the next one is actually today."

As much as I wanted to come and watch a movie here, I knew that I had to distance myself from Daniel or else those feelings would never go away.

"Maybe another time, okay? I do feel really tired.", I told Macy softly not wanting her to be too disappointed.

Her face fell a bit, but once I mentioned feeling tired she nodded her head in understanding and added with a giggle: "Better get enough sleep for our shopping tour tomorrow."

I smiled at her and soon she took me back to my room, where pyjamas had been prepared for me.

I wanted to ask Macy who they belonged to, but when I turned around she was already gone.

I shrugged my shoulders, but decided to find the woman soon, who so kindly let me borrow her clothes.

I walked into the en suite bathroom and immediately noticed the mirror on the wall. Or to be more specific the woman reflected there.

She was looking back at me.

I saw her eyebrows drawing together and then her gaze fell onto my still bandaged head.
