I spent the longest times thinking about exactly what I was going to do for my sister. I was pretty much adamant that I wouldn't allow her to stay in my home again. That was one straw that I just couldn't take back. The safety of children had to be held down, and I didn't want her wrong doings to negatively affect them.
Did I think Corey would have found her this quick? Not at all. I thought this was going to be a bit of a long process, but seeing him at my front door with my sister in tow was a sigh of relief.
Seeing her, I wanted to cry, honestly. Her hair was gone. Gone, y'all. I guess she noticed me looking at it.
"I cut it because I want to start over," she said.
Milena had some long healthy hair, just like I did. That was one thing that my mother made sure that she did good. She made sure that our hair was the best.
"I missed you," I told her as I pulled her into a hug. We hugged for a while, I was surprised that she didn't push me away.
"I know everything," I told her when we finally separated.
Milena looked at me. She searched my face for a lot of answers. "Who?"
"Jermaine," I told her honestly.
I could see the faint smile on her face. Milena hadn't truly talked really ill about Jermaine, and I could see why. He tried helping her when no one else would.
We walked further into my home and sat on the couch.
"I want you to go to a rehab facility," I told her. "I'll pay for it and everything. When you're finished with the program, I want you to pick out a place. I want you to start over, Milena. Start over. Be a mother to your son. Be there for him. You may not see it, but Lena you have a special baby on your hands. That's your pride. That's something to clean up for."
At this point, we were both on the verge of tears. I had never been this sensitive about this subject, but after learning a lot of things, I felt like this was Milena's last hope. Locking her up in a house and then traveling the world wasn't a very bright idea.
"When?" She asked me finally.
"Now, if you want."
"Where is Danny going to go?"
I had thought long and hard about this. I had grown closer to the boys while I was on vacation, and I wanted them to travel with me. There was also a downside because of school. I was really hoping that Shawn could be apart of this big decision. Taking them out of their school wasn't something that I wanted to do, because I knew it wasn't fun starting all over.
"I'll figure something out. He'll be fine," I reassured her.
"Fine."
The talk was over and I was more than glad about that. This was Milena's last hope with me. I didn't want anymore mess after this. I shouldn't have to babysit a grown ass woman.
"Can you go shower?" I asked her with a small smile.
Milena looked at me and I instantly felt bad for that. "Girl, shut up!" She said while laughing at me.
Before Milena could march upstairs, Daniel came running out. I think they were about to go outside, but seeing his mother changed all of that.
"Mommmmyyyy!" He yelled while running full force to her.
Lena smiled hard and picked him up. She hugged him tightly.
"I missed you, baby," I heard her tell him.
"I missed you too, Mommy."
I smiled brightly once Corey emerged out the room with Julian.
"I gotta go," he told me.
"Alright. Thank you so much!"
"No problem. But uh, Nia & I are having a dinner coming up. I'll send you the details."
I knew what this dinner would be about. Corey was extremely proud of becoming a father, so I knew he'd go all out with this announcement.
The next day...
Rehearsal day! It was the first rehearsal and I was more than excited. I really wanted to show out. There was a lot of energy in me and I really had no understanding as to why. We had been rehearsing for about three hours now, and it was lunch time. I had already put in the order and Julius was going to pick it up.
"Ma'am!" Ty said, attempting to get my attention. He was standing around some of the other dancers.
"Sir?" I asked jokingly.
"You heard about Kelly?"
I hadn't heard from Kelly in a while, honestly. There wasn't any business that needed to be gone over, so we didn't talk. We were supposed to talk later on in the week.
"No, what's up?"
"Well...word on the street is that she been getting her ass beat," Ty told me with every bit of hush hush queen.
I frowned. "I didn't know Kelly was a fighter."
Ty looked at me blankly. "She not. A man whooping her ass. She don't stand a chance," he said nonchalantly.
I hadn't even known that Kelly had a man! "How do you know this?" I had to ask Ty.
"He's cheating on her with this other girl who comes by the shop I work at sometimes. She be running her yap like she ain't next."
I shook my head in disbelief at the Ty. He was a true gossip queen, and there was no stopping that.
Before I could say anything, I heard screams about food. I was a fat ass and I was hungry as hell right now. Julius sat the food down and handed me my very own portion of food. I smiled at him.
"Thanks." Julius and I hadn't really talked since the night. I was trying my hardest to not make things awkward.
"Can we talk while they chew like cows?"
I giggled a bit and nodded my head. We went to the far back and began digging in.
"I know you didn't cheat," he said softly. "But my pride and my ego were both shattered. You left me and went to him and then there was a baby involved."
"I know," I told him. Eye contact. "I apologize for that. Really. It was a poor decision and really not something that was planned. Honestly, if I could go back and change it, I would."
I was telling the truth about that. If I hadn't have initiated that, maybe things would have been different with Shawn and I.
"We good?" Julius asked.
I laughed. "We good."
"Good," he said while taking some of my fries.
"Yooo!" I nearly screamed.
"Stop being a fat ass, Bey!"
