A faint scream pulled me from my sleep.

I sat straight up in bed and looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings. It took me only a moment before I could remember where I was, in Rick's room. Somehow in my sleep I had managed to get the thick blanket thrown on the floor. As I was reaching down to grab it there was another scream, this time closer, and my attention snapped towards the small window. There was a low orange glow, but I could not see where it was coming from or what was causing it. I climbed out of bed at the same time the bedroom door was slammed open. In the doorway stood a shirtless Rick who was breathing hard.

"What's going on?" I demanded.

"There are Vampires putting buildings on fire and attacking the alpha's house," he panted. "I was instructed to take you to safety."

Rick stretched out his hand out towards me and I grasped it hard. He tugged me through the small house and to the outside where the screams fill my ears. Wolves and people were running in all directions, some even fighting the Vampire wolves. There were a few buildings, all small, bursting with flames that filled the night sky with an orange glow and smoke.

Rick dragged me along as he went to run away from the commotion around the Alpha's house but instead I tugged him towards the house. He was a little resistant at first but allowed me to pull him. All around us were screams and crying. I pulled my hand out of Rick's when we neared the house and came to a complete stop. Wrapped around the house was a large crowed of pack members and about 20 feet in front of them closer to the house was a large group of Vampire wolves. The two groups, a mixture of wolves and people, stared at each other with their teeth bared, standing their ground. Some were eve growling or snarling.

Rick grabbed my hand and went to bring me back in the direction that we just came but I did not budge. It was if my feet were frozen to the ground.

There was a loud crash as the large wooden doors to the Alpha's house was kicked open and two figures walked out onto the steps. My body stilled, and I quit breathing when I realized that they were the Vampire pack's beta holding a knife to Alpha Martha's throat. Several of the Emerald member began to pace along the lines, trying to find a way to get to their alpha without causing her any harm.

"I've got a question that I am only going to ask once," the Vampire's beta, Eric, said in a booming voice. "Where is the silver wolf? Where is Sophie Starfall?"

Again, Rick tried to pull me away, but I would not go. Instead I yanked my hand out of his and began to slowly make my way toward the front of the Emerald line.

No one responded to Eric's question, not even Martha. Eric searched the crowed with red eyes that seemed to glow with the light of the fire. "I will not ask again," he said through grit teeth. "Answer me or so help me, man on the moon, or your alpha with bleed out in front of you. We know the silver wolf is here, we have the note from the messenger wolf."

The Emerald pack began to murmur and some even left the crowd, to search for me I assume. It took me a second to realize that no one realized what I looked like and that no one smelled me because I'm covered in Rick's sent from his bed.

"I'll give you till the count of three," Eric said, spit flying from his mouth. "One!"

Eric dug the knife just enough to cause some blood to spill slightly. I took a step towards them when a hand clamped down on my shoulder. Looking at the person who held me, I saw Rick with so much emotion on his face, it froze me in my place.
