"Jake, my boy!" Drake exclaimed standing. He walked over to the young man still standing in the entrance.
A sudden realization hit me when I saw the two standing by each other, they looked the same except for the skin tone and eye color. The world began to spin, and I gripped the arms of my chair to keep from falling out. It suddenly became difficult for me to breath as everything clicked into place, how he was able to afford that nice car, the random smell of old blood, and how the Vampires knew I was with the Emerald pack. Jake found me in the trade city and scared me away with the three Vampire wolves that came to the candy shop. He was trying to get me out of the safety of the trade city and I was stupid enough to fall for it.
The two men walked back to the table and sat down, ignoring that fact that I was having a tough time to breath. Drake sat to my left and Jake to my right. Seeing the two so close together, it was easy to see the similar features. They both had the same oval eye shape, strong jaw line, wide shoulders, and perfect smiles. I was strange seeing a man like Jake, bronze skin and warm eyes, under the roof that was meant for pale skin, blood drinkers. Then again, I was out of place, but not by choice.
When everyone was seated and comfortable, all but me, Drake snapped his fingers and servants began to pour put from hidden door along the walls. Different sized dishes were placed on the table filled with several types of vegetables, fruits, salads, and meats. Everything smelt like heaven. I did not realize how hungry I was until a servant came to stand by and put a serving from each dish on my plate. My mouth began to water as I was staring at the delicious smelling food. Just as I was about to grab my fork, I remembered where I was, who I was with, and lost my appetite.
"Why are you all bruised up, Strawberry?" Jake asked in between bites.
I refused to look at him, let alone talk to him. Instead I stared at my hands in my lap, ignoring the annoying gnawing feeling in my stomach.
"Eric said that the roads were a bit more rough than normal ad he used the van that doesn't have much comfort," Drake explained as he wiped his mouth with a cloth napkin. "How did the situation go with the Emerald pack?"
My head snapped up at the mention of the Emerald pack. "Your beta gave me his word that nothing would happen to them if I gave myself up willing," I said, hating how my voice cracked.
Jake watched me and gave me an apologetic smile. "Eric might have given you his word," he said smoothly, "but my father did not give you his." As I was quietly simmering Jake turned to his gaze to his father and said, "I did as you asked and now the pack is broken up and scared out of their minds. Their Alpha got away though."
Drake waved his hand, still holding the fork, around absently and said, "As long as Martha and her pathetic pack knows what will happens if she tries to keep what's mine, I do not care."
With that being said, the two did not say anything more about the Emerald pack and launched into a conversation about how Jake stayed in an apartment and worked Lysa. Images of the Emerald pack flooded my mind. How many were killed? Are Rick and his family okay?
"Son, did you find the last part of the key?"
"I tore that house and her apartment apart looking for it but could not find it. She must have hidden it somewhere."
A small part of me began to relax at the thought of Rick hiding my brother's bag well, but at what cost? I hoped dearly that he brought his parents when he hid the item and all that he lost was his house.
