"Where are we?" i whispered as our feet once again touched the ground. Pulling apart from his protective embrace i looked about and tucked a piece of hair behind my ears. His wings fluttered before folding in and away from sight, that golden hum disappearing.

We were in the middle of nowhere, few dead trees, broken branches, rough dirt roads, and what looked to be a run down church in the distance.

The church's walls crumpled from the top which made me surprised the building was still up. It looked to be very old, with stone walls, stained glass windows with the most exquisite colors and beautiful depictions of angels, two massive, thick, wooden double doors at the entrance, and vines that grew up the remainders of the walls.

"We are here to meet Angel Esmerelda." he spoke softly as he peered out to the church. "Perhaps she is there." Before i could even ask anything else Gabrielle began walking towards the building with big and quick strides. Reluctantly i followed with shorter and clumsier steps. When we reached the doors of the church, Gabrielle took the handles and opened the doors with ease, watching from behind i could see his muscles flex ever so lightly from opening them.

The soft padding of our feet could be heard against the stone cold flooring as we walked our way down the aisles of the church. Benches with old rotting wood had been broken and withered, dust trapped on every corner and piece of furniture, dim light escaped from cracks in the wall and the windows, a woman sat at a broken bench, back facing us, and humming with such an elegant tone. She had long and thick locks, a long earth green gown that hugged her upper body and flowed elegantly down her figure.

"Esmerelda." Gabrielles gentle symphony of a voice called. The woman stood and turned with a warm smile.

"Gabrielle.." she softly responded, her smile faded when her eyes caught mine as she took in my appearence. Ripped black jeans, sweatshirt, and messy hair, surely not as graceful."Is this the girl?" she looked to Gabrielle as if she couldnt believe her eyes. He nodded.

"Yes, this is Amelia." he placed his hand in the small of my back causing me to tense.

It felt unnatural to be here, or even be touched by this man. Almost Making me miss Lucifers touch. But Gabrielle was an angel, perhaps they could help me, take away the deal i made, save my fate?

Esmerelda's eyes narrowed down at mine, her head tilted back, she seemed to study me.

"Very well." her voice almost sounding as if she hissed out her words, head held high. "Does Lucifer know our whereabouts?" she turned her attention to Gabrielle once more.

"No, atleast i dont think so." he looked to me.

"And what about their connection?" she asked quickly.

"Connection? I doubt there is any." i sarcastically said as i rolled my eyes.

Esmerelda shot me an annoyed frown. "I mean your binding."

"Our deal?" i asked tilting my head.

"No your-" she was cut off by Gabrielle who stepped in and shot down her words. Looking between the two, they both remained silent.

"What do we do with her now? This was your idea Esmerelda." Gabrielle spoke in a hushed tone to her as if i wasnt here. Sighing i took a seat on a bench and ran my fingers through my hair. It had been one hell of a day, and despite how many questions i had, i was too tired to ask.

"We must hide her away from him. " she whispered back glancing behind him and at me. "Somewhere he wont find her. "

"And where do you suppose we take her?" There was frustration in the edge of his voice. There was a pause as i furrowed my brows.
