"Remember it well, Mister Godfrey".
Oh, I remember it well alright. Even as I ate dinner, his name kept on crossing my mind. Isaac Pierre. What a determined guy. Too bad his efforts will just be in vain - as have the others'. I'm the son of the Godfrey family, and he, a person of an obviously lower class than I, dare to challenge me. I scoffed at the thought. Futile. I can't believe that still happens.
But still-
I never felt this much eagerness in quite a long time.
I kept on tapping the sharp edge of the bread knife I held unto the wooden dining table. It's always been so quiet. And boring. I opened my phone and slid my thumb across the screen as I scrolled through my contacts. Maybe I could ask someone to come. Unexpectedly, my phone rang and the name, Randall, flashed on the screen. I answered the call and lazily lifted the phone to my left ear.
"What?", I said in an unexpectedly exasperated tone.
"I can't believe you did that, man! She didn't even bother giving me her number!"
"Whatever, man", I groaned. I heard him exhale in a burdensome manner at my reply. Seriously.
"It's not my fault you're so blind", I bluntly replied. "That girl back then was only using you to get to me. Obviously, she didn't have any plans on giving you her number".
"You're so harsh, man", his voice croaked over the line. "Really, the perks of being your friend. Maybe we should put some distance between us so we could, you know,...give each other some space. Get what I'm sayi-"
"Crystal clear", I ended sharply and immediately dropped the call.
I guess this is I will live, after all. The people I meet ,which other people view as my friends, were no more than acquaintances. No more than mere connections to get to people. As usual, I was simply a means to an end. However, a thought crossed my mind: 'Maybe I'm really no different than that girl'.
Great. I lost my appetite.
I stood up from my seat and walked out of the dining room.
"Young Master, are you not going to eat your dinner-"
"Not hungry", I cut the maid's words off as I disappeared out the door. I walked down the long hallways and climbed the newly-cleaned stairs up to my room. I pushed one of its large wooden doors and slammed it behind me. Upon stepping into my dark room, the enormity and emptiness of my room hit me first.
I exhaled loudly and rolled my eyes which fell unto the sight of my camera which stood on the recamier by the foot of my bed. I walked to where it was and gently lifted it up to my face. I slid my fingers across its black frame, leather and buttons - and it hit me. I know just what to do.

I left the house with my bike and climbed the lowest lying cliff in the mountains closest in the city. I rested my bike by a tree and I went to sit on the cliff's edge. There it is.
The beautiful city under the light of the moon.
The wind gently blew and the night was hushed. Only the sound of the crickets amidst the trees behind me was audible. I sat down on the ground, raised my face up to my sky, closed my eyes, and inhaled the air. I let the lovely sight seep into my mind and my very bones. I felt the green grass brush against my legs and the palm of my hands as the wind blew.
I shifted my gaze back to the city. Then, I lifted the camera's viewfinder up to my eyes, and let the camera's shutter sing its song.
