Isaac's POV
It didn't take long when the Godfrey family finally set out for their tour around the city. Alice, Aaron's mother, even shared that the city had changed over the course of a few years. We strolled around the city and one thing bothered me: everyone's hooded outfit during the trip. Alice and her husband wore a couple black and green hoodie, while Xander and his fiance wore a beige one. I wore the same red polo shirt and brown slacks during the trip while Aaron wore his blue V-neck shirt paired with grey pants and loafers.
"Why are you all in a disguise now..?", I questioned.
"Ssh", Ma'am Alice put a finger to her red lips and walks to me. "We'll be going in pairs the entire trip this afternoon. The reason for our disguise is this: we're pretty much trying to avoid anyone recognizing us."
I raised my eyebrows in confusion. "You see", Ma'am Alice continued, "we're the owners and stars of an entertainment company and it would ruin the trip if we were to be crowded with paparazzi, wouldn't it?"
"I see..", I nodded my head. "Then, why isn't Aaron wearing a disguise like you?"
"You're his disguise", she gives me a peck on the forehead. "Take care of him, alright?" She walks to Aaron and tells him, "Take care of Iris. I'll send you a message as to where we will meet for dinner. It's still three in the afternoon. Enjoy yourselves, ok?", then gives him a peck on the cheeks and walks to her husband.
I felt a hand slither on my shoulder making me turn to a familiar brunette,"Take care of yourself, ok?"
E-Eleanor! "I- I will..", I replied with a smile.
Xander appeared beside Eleanor and wormed his hand on her hand, "Let's go?". Eleanor nods at him and waves at me. I waved back at her as I watched them disappear among the crowd. In the corner of my eye, I saw Aaron, arms crossed over his chest, leaning against the wall of a shop and staring silently into the open space. Noticing my gaze, he darts his eyes to me. I winced in surprise. He lifted himself off the wall and walks to me, "Let's go".
"Sure", I nodded and we began to walk side by side.
***
Aaron walked ahead of me as I slowed my pace down. I let my sight roam freely around the city and the things I saw which I thought weren't there. I lived in the mountains my entire life and I haven't really gotten the chance to roam the city like this aside from the times my mother had me run her errands to the market. That is, before she left.
I stepped on the concrete road with my eyes darting from one shop to another. There was this one shop that stole my attention. It was an antique shop. I walked to it and looked at the items in the display window. There was a wooden music box, a doll and an old pocket watch, just to name a few. I looked up and saw a wide array of what was called a dreamcatcher. I looked at one with the hues of grey and blue and gazed at it. Suddenly, the curtains of the display window opened as an aged man took the dreamcatcher I was looking at and closed the curtain back on.
"Oh..", I sighed. Too bad. I could've at least bought it rather than allow someone else to buy it before I did. Whatever. I went on my way and noticed Aaron was nowhere to be found. I stopped on my tracks and looked around.
"Aaron?", I called out to him. Don't tell me that jerk went ahead!? I let out a loud sigh. Great. I'll just find my own way around here and if I'm lucky, I might bump into him or his family. Finding my resolve, I took a step and bumped into a large tattooed man and stopped his gang of five.
"I-I'm sorry", I bowed.
"HAA!?", the man held my chin up and after further scrutiny, grinned, revealing a metal teeth on his lower jaw. "You're quite lovely . Why not apologize using your body, little missy?"
"Let me go!", I pulled my chin away. The man held the same disgusting grin on his face as he spoke, "Ooh, I like them ladies a bit resisting". He chuckles as he reached his hand out to me. Unexpectedly, a hand totally unlike to that of the gangsters held my wrist and dragged me away from all their pressing.
"H-hey-", I attempted a protest to the hand that held me, but realizing the familiarity of the dark hair swaying from the man's head as he dragged me away and the tight grip with which he held my wrist, I felt at ease and smiled to myself. Aaron.
"Hey!", the tattooed man grabbed him and gave him a punch on the face which he swiftly dodged. The tattooed man rolled over on the ground as he lost his balance from the punch and Aaron pulled me to his chest, an arm protectively wrapping tiself around my shoulders. I looked up at him as he set his grey eyes filled with a spine-chilling hostility at the man. His gang began to surround us as the tattooed man lifted himself of the ground.
"You dare humiliate me!!", the man yelled in a furious voice which scared the surrounding crowd of people. I felt Aaron's hold on my shoulders tighten as he leaned into my ear and whispered, "Stay still". He then releases me and worried, I grabbed the back of his shirt. When he turned his head to me in the slightest motion, I told him in a voice only he can hear, "Don't get yourself hurt".
"Why should I..", he speaks in a deep voice making me think he didn't recognize my intention. I slipped my hand from his shirt as he turned his head to me, his eyes filled with affection, "..when you're waiting for me?"
Aaron stepped into the middle of the gang and stood in front of their leader. It didn't take long for the other gang members to charge at Aaron with the attempts to hurt, injure and even destroy him,and it didn't take too long for Aaron to counter either. A series of punches was thrown towards him but he managed to dodge them and counter with either a punch or a kick. One second, Aaron was occupied and a gang member attempted to kick Aaron from the back. Knowing that Aaron wouldn't see the attack coming, I decided to join in the action and blocked the man's kick.
"Isaa- Iris!", Aaron called in alarm.
"I told you already", I positioned my fists in front of my chest, "don't underestimate me". In the corner of my eye, I saw a man coming at me with a punch which I eventually dodged. I held his arm and pushed him hard on the ground, slightly fracturing a bone of his and making him release a pained scream. As soon as he got up, I shot him a menacing look sending him on the run.
"Hey, get back here, you coward!", their tattooed leader yelled. I walked to him in heavy steps and he turned his attention to me. "That's it, lovely. Come to me and play with m-" I interrupted him mid sentence with a punch on the face, knocking him on the ground. As soon as he lied down on the ground, I sat on him and lifted his upper body by the collar.
"Dare calling me like that again and I swear it will be the last thing you say".
