Isaac's POV
Everything went inaudible by then.
Everything but a series of thuds and my own voice calling out his name. Then the next thing I know, I found myself lying down on the comforts of what felt like a bed, and staring at a white ceiling. I sat up and held my head as a slight ache trickled through my brain. I looked around and recognized the smell and look of the place - sterile and white. This must be the academy clinic.
One of the lengthy curtains surrounding my bed was pushed aside when the academy doctor entered, "You feeling alright?"
"Yeah..", I slightly nodded. A series of memories rushed in my head and immediately asked the doctor, "How about Aaron, sir? How is he?"
"He'll be fine", he said and I immediately replied in a tone of panic, "Can he still move?"
The doctor chuckles at my statement, "Of course, he can! Fortunately, there aren't any major injuries. He only gained a few scratches and light bruises on the forehead and arms. No need to cry over it", the doctor points his thumbs to one of the curtained cubicles. "He's over there-". Without having the doctor finish, I jumped out of the bed and immediately ran to Aaron's cubicle but the doctor managed to grab my shoulders and I turned to him with a questioning look.
"I'm more worried about you, Pierre", he said. "Students found Aaron lying injured at the bottom of the staircase leading to the rooftop, and you", he said the last word with concern, "stood there frozen with your hand reached out. The students who found you both reported that you collapsed by the time help arrived. Since then, you've been asleep for more than half an hour. Are you sure you're alright?"
"I think I am, sir", I gave him a reassuring nod. I resumed my way to Aaron's cubicle and pushed aside the curtains. "Aaron!", I called out to him.
He was sitting up among the white sheets of the small clinic bed and he had his head wrapped with a bandage and an adhesive one stuck on his left cheek.
"Hey", he responds with a weak smile. I stepped to the side of his bed while keeping my head down.
"I'm sorry..", I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists. "It's my fault for-"
"The fault is mine", he cuts me off, making me look up at his obliging grey eyes. He then shifted his attention to his left hand which he clenched right in front of his face, "If I just left you untouched, you wouldn't have panicked. I mean, you did panic, didn't you?" He looked back to me again.
"Uhh..", I was tongue-tied.
He chuckles to himself and flashes a grin at me as he lifted his fingers on my cheek, "I'll take the pink tinge on your face as a yes". I hit his hand away and made a bad, bad choice of words.
"No touchy".
He looked at me with a surprised look in his widely opened eyes for a full five seconds.
Shit. Did I just say such a childish-
"Ahahaha!!", Aaron laughs out loud while holding his stomach.
I reddened in embarrassment. "H-Hey, don't laugh!", I yelled at him.
"Haha..", he wiped a tear off his eyes. "Seriously, I had the first impression you were so stuck-up and all". The look in his eyes turned into a stirringly affectionate one as he tilted his head a bit and said, "Never thought you were quite interesting and mercurial in a good way".
"Huh?", I stiffened up at his words. For some unknown reason, I felt myself fall into his gravity.
"Isaac?", his calling out to me snapped me out of my reveries and returned me to the reality which faced me at this moment.
