January 14th. The day of my birth. My eyes finally opened up and a small smile was formed on my face. I'm finally 17 meaning that in 365 days I'll be finally legal. I got out of my bed and sprinting downstairs into the kitchen. The smell of bacon and pancakes bursted and I couldn't help it but feel satisfied.

"Happy birthday Annalisa" my mom said.

"Thank you" I said with a smile.

Just before breakfast was ready, Dylan came rushing down the stairs with a wrapped gift in his hand.

"Happy 17th sis" he said as he handed me my gift.

"Aww thanks bro" I said taking the gift.

My eyes widened after I unwrapped my gift. I covered my mouth as I was in shock to see that my own brother got me an apple watch. I've been begging on getting an apple watch since it was first released but it was too expensive to get and now the best brother in the world got me one. I jumped out of my seat at the table and hugged Dylan super tight.

"Thank you thank you thank you" I said.

"No problem Anna" He said.

My mom came around the table placing breakfast down for us. I began filling up my plate with food and started to dig in.

"So Anna, we have a lot to do today for your big day" my mom said.

"Like what?" I asked.

"You'll see. It's a surprise" she said with a smile.

I felt concerned about this "surprise" for a moment but I just shook it off and kept on eating my breakfast.

Over time, my mom took me out for the day. We went out for lunch at this cafe that recently just opened up near by. Afterwards, she took me out for manicures and pedicures which we haven't done in quite awhile. Just spending those kinds of moments with mom made me realize that they might be the last moments with her. It's tough thinking about someone who you're close with is struggling with cancer while you're living the moment with that person. I just want to see my mom smiling and laughing one last time before her time is up.

"Thank you for an amazing day mom" I said to her as she was driving.

"The day is not over yet. We have somewhere to be at 7. Dress casual but not too fancy" she said.

I nodded in response. I don't want to ask her where we're going but I didn't want to spoil the surprise.

At just about 5:45pm, I changed into a maroon long sleeve shirt with black jeans and a pair of tan boots for the occasion.

After that, I took out my french braid that were in my hair which makes it much more wavy. Then, I put on only eyeshadow and mascara since I don't wanna go all out with a full on baked face of makeup.

"Anna, you ready to go?" I heard my mom yell from downstairs.

I quickly checked one more time in the mirror before grabbing my phone and my coat.

Ethan's POV

6:50 pm. Everyone has arrived at the party hall and Anna is gonna be here in ten minutes. My palms were sweating, my eyes were twitching, my whole body was shaking because I'm so nervous to see what she'll think. Most importantly, I hope that she's gonna forgive me for what happened.

"SHE'S HERE!" Grayson yelled.

Everyone stood up from their seats as they wait for her to come in. The door opens revealing Anna along with Dylan and her mom. We all shouted "Happy Birthday" as a surprised expression was formed on her face.

"Who did all this?" she asked.

I walked right up to her as she was forming a wide smile on her face.

"I did" I told her.

She didn't say anything but instead smashes her lips against mine. I kissed back smiling while everyone else was in awe. We eventually pulled away with our foreheads touching and staring into each others eyes.

"Thank you" Anna whispered.

"Your welcome. Happy Birthday beautiful".

Anna's POV

So far, this party was amazing. Ethan did an fantastic job with setting up everything including inviting almost the whole school who half doesn't even know me and probably went because well Ethan and Grayson are gonna be there. I felt a tap on my shoulder as I was talking to one of my classmates from school. I turned to see Ethan standing right in front of me.

"Can we talk in private?" Ethan asked me.

I nodded and took his hand. He lead me outside of the party hall and we both sat down on one of the steps.

"I just want to say I'm sorry for the inconvenience a few days ago" he said.

"It's not your fault Ethan. I just got so jealous when Grace hugged you" I said.

"About that. The reason why I hugged her is because she helped me set this up".

I turned at him in shock. My best friend and my boyfriend care so much for me to do just that. Damn, I'm so lucky.

"Are you serious?" I asked him

"Yeah, she also wanted me to give you this" he said pulling out something from his back pocket.

He gave me a small gift that was wrapped in silver wrapping paper. I opened it until I saw it making my eyes widened. In a small black box was a silver ring with Ethan's name engraved in it.

"Ethan, I have no words" I said speechless.

"It's just a promise ring because I want to promise you that I will never break your heart, break a promise, or act like a huge douchebag. Do you promise me?"

"Yes. Ethan Grant Dolan, I promise" I said smiling.

I slid the ring into my finger before we both stood up. My lips crashed into his with a smile forming between.

"I love you" he said in between the kiss.

"I love you too" I responded.

This has been the best birthday of my seventeen years of living thanks to the best boyfriend in the entire world.
