Tracy couldn't believe that she was actually going to Ortrabis.
"You've got to be kidding me," she whispered, making sure she was quiet enough to not disturb Nesaliani.
A small glimmer flashed in Tracy's brown eyes, and her mind started racing. As this was happening, Tracy uncovered many lost memories from years before. One in particular, stuck out to her.
"Tracey, Logan," her mother had yelled, "take them back to Earth."
Her mother and father were in Ortrabis, and Tracey and Logan were there too! Did that mean they were really born there?
Tracey noticed that two groups of people were wrapped in thick ropes, her family and a family of paliceos.
"What about Nesaliani?" the paliceo mother asked.
"Have them take her there too," Tracy's father commanded.
The parents threw the babies to some trustworthy paliceos, just as some untrustworthy ones sent spears flying towards them.
"You traitors," one of the paliceos said, "humans and paliceos are supposed to be in their separate worlds.
"Yeah and you're next," sneered another, pointing a sharp finger to the paliceos with babies in their arms.
A tall paliceo with a staff of solid gold shouted, "the war between humans and paliceos has begun!"
Slipping away, the good paliceos gently placed Tracey and Logan on the doorstep of a human orphanage.
After that, they carried Nesaliani to an entrance to the cave, underneath the house.
Then glumly, the paliceos walked back to the portal to Ortabis.
Snapping back to reality, Tracey found herself laying on the ground next to a very worried Nesaliani.
"You don't look so good," Nesaliani announced, looking at Tracey, "you are really pale."
"Nesalianai," Tracey said, her mind spinning, "I know this might seem like a weird question to ask but...."
Tracey could tell by the look on Nesaliani's face that she was annoyed.
"Spit it out girl," Nesaliani snapped.
Breathing hard, Tracey was ready to tell Nesaliani what she didn't want to hear.
"Your parents, did they die in a war?"
Nesaliani started shivering and then she turned to Tracey.
"How did you figure it out?"
"I-I had a memory," Tracey stuttered.
Both of the girls fell silent, again. Only this time they were speechless and scared.
Acting like what just happened didn't exist, Nesaliani tugged on the key in the stump.
Instead of coming out, the gold key turned and unlocked the portal within the old tree.
The top of the stump disappeared and led to a green and purple watercolor polished portal.
Four glowing purple orbs floated above the ground and spoke to the girls in soft, heavy voices.
