"Good morning, Lyra." Jihoon says, running up to me on my way to homeroom.
"Hey." I respond, still unable to decide how I feel about yesterday's conversation.
With my peripheral vision, I can see almost all the students in the corridor staring at the two of us. Some of them whispering to their friends and others blatantly glaring at me. I roll my eyes, at how conspicuous everyone is.
"Are you sure you want to talk to me.." I pause before lowering my voice, and Jihoon bends down to hear, "out in the open?"
"Yeah, you are my girlfriend, right?" He says a bit too loudly, causing a sudden silence. Jihoon notices this and turns around to scan the students around us. From their reactions, he becomes flustered, his cheeks turning light pink in pigment.
Sighing, I grab Jihoon's wrist to lead him outside, a place where, hopefully, no one will be able to eavesdrop on our conversation. Every student we pass stops to stare, their eyes wide. From their exaggerated expressions, I can't help but feel like any physical contact with Jihoon or any of the members of Wanna One in this school seems to be taboo to the students. In my mind, I pray this isn't the case to avoid getting myself into any unnecessary trouble. However, at the same time, I know I'm the one who brought trouble onto myself when I asked Jihoon to be my boyfriend.
Once we make it to the back of the school, I immediately let go of his wrist and plop to the ground. I'm not used to attracting anyone's attention, much less the attention of the whole student body. The heavy feeling of everyone's eyes fixated on Jihoon and I lingers, and somehow causes my energy level to hit rock bottom. I'm so focused on myself that I almost forget the reason why I attracted everyone's attention in the first place.
I quickly stand up and turn to Jihoon, who has a blank expression on his face. He seems to be in deep thought about something.
"So," I begin, the sound of my voice snapping him out of his daze. "I think it would be for the best if we establish some rules about our whole boyfriend and girlfriend agreement."
Jihoon nods, his eyes focused on me.
"Um, first off, I think we should keep the fact that we're boyfriend and girlfriend a secret to avoid you getting into some kind of scandal or me getting killed by your fans." I say.
"What if I tell the other members of Wanna One?"
I contemplate for a second, before answering, "I guess it would be okay to tell them, as long as your fans or manager don't find out, but why would you want to tell them? I mean, it's not like we're actually going out or anything."
He shrugs, "I guess that's true, but I think I want to tell them that we're temporarily dating just so that they don't make a big deal out of me hanging around you."
"Oh, okay then..."
"Do you have any other rules you want to tell me?" Jihoon asks, and I catch a hint of impatience in his voice.
"Actually, no..." I say slowly, as I think of any other rules I want to incorporate. "Oh, wait, no cutesy stuff or aegyo or, oh my gosh, jeojang!"
I roll my eyes at the thought of how guys acting cutely to their girlfriends was such a common thing in Korea. I, for one, would never want my boyfriend to act cute.
Jihoon chuckles to himself, "Well, if you're done with your rules, I think I should tell you mine."
I feel my eyebrows raise and my eyes widen, in confusion. "Huh? Aren't I the one that asked you to be my boyfriend? Why do I have to follow your rules?"
