Constantly living with George, Lockwood and the skull can really hurt your head sometimes and usually i would do anything for a few minuets of peace and quiet. But this isn't that type of quiet its more like that small silent gap in a horror movie before your worst nightmare jumps out at you. Grabbing at you ankles with cold hands and dragging you into a mysterious abyss. Which is why I will admit I'm scared I can hear my heart thumping in by chest. My eyesight cannot break through the dark so I have no idea what is on the other side. That's why when I see Holly trying to open a door instead of watching her sad attempts I decide to help her. Putting my back against the cold glass I put all my weight into the door.
Staring out at the unknown I start to panic. My heart is beating faster and faster my breathing is becoming ragged. It's the exact same layout as my nightmare now all that I need is for that pale white face and those hatred filled eyes to pop out and grab me, screaming for the revenge they do rightly deserve.
I feel the object behind me break away and as the smash of the glass meets my ears I slam into the floor. All my blood rushing to my head before my reflexes kick in and I scramble up ripping my rapier out off my belt. Getting in a stance ready for any attack.
But there isn't any just the ice cold air and awaiting darkness. Accompanied by the numbing silence. I flinch as I feel the weight of someone's hands on my shoulder. Of course it is Holly, free of any injury and giving me her little 'innocent' smile.
"Oh Lucy you should really be more careful. We wouldn't want you to get hurt." I grimaced at the thought of anyone else seeing that before giving her a low growl.
Are you seriously just going to let her walk away unscathed Lucy.
There it is the skull trying to talk me into killing Holly as always. I attempt to block its raspy voice out as it rambles on about the different ways I could kill her and the simple fact that no one would ever need to know. But I will not listen to it I won't let it twist my mind. Or so I try but her nagging little voice decides to start up again.
"I guess that's why Lockwood hired me."
She flicked her hair over her shoulder swinging her rapier around like a ball. I pushed down my anger blocking out the ache in my ears from the skull. I really thought I could hold my anger in until she decided to finish her little talk.
"I guess Lockwood just needs someone he can trust, someone he knows will watch his back." My anger got the best of me as I held my rapier tightly and lunged for Holly's snickering form, she squealed in surprise leaping out of my way.
I watched as the laughter left her face and panic filled her eyes. The skulls cheers met my ears as I spun around slashing at Holly's legs. I wasn't close enough or angry enough to hurt her just yet. She realised she was being weak and drew her own little rapier which was my old one out.
There was a clash of iron as out rapiers met in the middle she pushed all her weight against mine trying to over power me. Slowly shifting to the side I moved my rapier away and she stumbled forwards then swiping the rapier out of her hands I spun both in my hands. A demonic laugh erupted behind me and small glass object fell and smashed onto the floor. But all my attention was on Holly.
"You think you are so much better than me and yet you were only hired to clean up our mess. You're a cleaner not one of us and you never will be, the reason you are here is because we need all the help we can get including little princesses like you. You are a stuck up self centred bitch who loves to get everything you want, which is why you are addicted to Lockwood. Because you want someone to give you all the attention in the world." The words left my lips on a flurry and I couldn't be more relieved she didn't deserve my attention. She parted her lips as I watched the clogs in her head working for a comeback.
"You just wait Lucy soon I'll be everything in your little company. I'll have the expensive rapier and go out and get praised for my work while you sit in a motel moping over what you could of done." The skull growled in my backpack as I took in her words.
Before I could reply to the little bitch the skull started screaming, in his little freak I managed to get out the words
Behind you and duck. I threw myself onto the floor as a table was thrown through the air grabbing Holly I shoved her towards cover.
Poltergeist
The arguing must of set it off. In all my years of training one of the first things we are taught is never show emotions especially anger. Now we had a type 4 poltergeist having a tantrum.Knives rattled against the walls being pulled by an invisible force. Everything glass seemed to smash and time slowed as the deadly sharp pieces flew towards me. My heart started beating frantically in my chest as the glass advanced in my direction. The desk was thrown out the way and I screamed as thousands of sharp pieces pierced my skin.
