Chapter 7

The remaining 2 Decepticons then used the downed highway sign as a ramp, transfoming as they flew through the air. We fastened our pace and continued driving down the highway before Bumblebee, Sideswipe and Dino all braked, transforming a small bit to bear their weapons as they shot at the 'cons now behind Light and I as we moved behind Sentinel. They managed to hit a 'con, slowly it down enough for Dino to grab it with his retractable blades and deal with it.

Light cheered mentally as we watched the 'cons helm roll off as he was killed. The remaining 2 'cons quickly dodged a few missiles, throwing several vehicles up into the air to stop the 3 gaining Autobots. We continued driving with Sentinel to NEST watching behind us as the 2 Decepticons were dealt with by Ironhide and Sideswipe before the Autobots joined us back at base. 

"Get inside! Let's Go!" Lennox ordered as we all pulled past him and got to the entrance of the base. Light and I followed Sentinel and watched as Sam conversed with Lennox. "Lennox! We got Decepticons everywhere!" Sam called as he ran to the colonel. "I've got my whole team deployed looking for them. Ironhide! Help Light and Shadow protect Sentinel! Get him locked up inside!" Lennox yelled at us as we all transformed to our bipedal modes.

"Consider it done!" Ironhide yelled back. "Yea, you gotta guard him cause he's the key to this whole thing" Sam informed Lenox. "Indeed I am. What you must realize, My Autobot brothers and sister, is we were never going to win the war. For the sake of our planet's survival, a deal had to be made...with Megatron" Sentinel spoke as I quickly grabbed my newly made shield from my back and positioned myself in front of Ironhide as he was the closest.

The loud clang of metal alerted me that my instincts were correct and quickly moved grabbing the sword from the shield as Sentinel took another shot. This time my attempt to save Ironhide was futile as the shot hit his chest, most likely penetrating his spark chamber before he could fire his own weapon at the Betrayed Prime. "Ironhide!" Light yelled as he quickly brandished his own weapon and took a few shots before flipping, transforming into his smaller form, behind cover with Bee. 

'Get out of here!' I yelled at him as several more shots were fired at him and Bee. 'Not till your out!' He yelled back as I hit Sentinel's chest with my shield as he blocked all attacks from my sword. 'He won't kill me, Light. He need's me for the Pillars' I informed him, sending reassurance over our bond. 'Fine! But don't you dare offline on me!' Light yelled back as he disappeared from sight with Bee. 

"I hereby discharge you from duty" I heard Sentinel say as I turned back to him and watched as he shot Ironhide one final time. "Everybody get to cover!" I yelled sternly at the humans, hoping they'd comply with the order. Sentinel bashed his shield against me as I tried protecting the humans, resulting in me being thrown from my pedes and rolling onto my underside on the street. I groaned and slowly got to a kneeling position where I grabbed the shield and sword, placing the sword back into its place. 

"Shadow! Get out of here!" Lennox yelled at me as he looked up from his spot holding Sam. "He's after the Pillars, I have to stop him" I replied back, standing up and blocking a shot from Sentinel. I transformed my own ion canon and brought it up, firing 2 shots quickly to only be blocked by Sentinels own shield. I growled as I got closer to him only for him to kick my chest plating and jump the fence, transforming into his Alt mode and going for the base entrance. "Scrap..." I murmured as I raced after him.

'Optimus, Sentinel is working with Megatron. He's inside the base going for the Pillars. I'm gonna be overpowered soon' I informed him as I entered the base and shot at the Prime a few times. Sentinel dodged them all and switched his canon to normal bullets and got me. I collapsed as I held my abdomen, energon streaming from it. 'Shadow! Hold on! I'm 5 minutes out' Optimus replied, feeling my pain as I did. Sentinel laughed and towered over me. "Shadow Prime...The other key to the Pillars. I'll give you a deal" He spoke as he bent down next to me, poking my helm with his canon. 

"You help me activate the Pillars and I'll spare your brother and sparkmate" He growled as I strained to get up, only being pushed back down by him. "Fine, but the first moment I get, your helm will be on the ground" I threatened, spitting liquid into his face. He groaned and stepped onto my back strut, causing more pain to shoot through me. I growled venomously before slowly getting up as he walked away, throwing debris through the base doors. 

I stayed on the ground holding my wound as several soldiers walked at my side. "Let's go! Follow me!" I heard Mearing yell as she entered the base. I slowly got up and transformed into my other bipedal form, not before grabbing my shield and pulling the sword and axe from it and throwing them to the ground. I quickly grabbed the two weapons and raced after Sentinel. I swung my axe at him only to be deterred by his shield and a forceful kick, throwing me several metres and onto a helicopter than made me roll backwards. 

"Hey, Sentinel! What is going on? What do you think you are doing?" Mearing yelled at him as I got back up, limping over. "I am a Prime! I do not take orders from you!" He yelled back, blocking a sabot round from a solder and continuing on his path to the pillars. "Get out!" I ordered them as I saw Lennox run in with Sam. "Now return what belongs to me!" Sentinel demanded as he caused more destruction to the base. 

He then made his way quickly to the vault and got into it, collecting the pillars and walking past me with a smirk as I looked on in defeat. "Remember our deal, Shadow" He reminded as he transformed into his alt mode and went through the base doors, me shedding a few tears before I followed after him in my dodge challenger. We quickly left the base and drove to the meeting spot from him and Megatron. 

---Light's PoV---

I caught up with Optimus soon after I left, in hopes that we could save Shadow from Sentinel as well as the pillars. When we arrived though, the base was destroyed. Shadow and Sentinel no where in sight. Sam ran onto the platform and looked at us as we both transformed into our bipedal mode's and looked at the havoc surrounding us. 

"Yeah take a look Primes! This is all on you!" Mearing yelled at us as she appeared next to Sam with Lennox by her side. A few soldiers ran up next to Lennox, grabbing his attention. "Sentinel hit the vault. Took the pillars and Shadow" The head soldier spoke, Lennox kicking the railing in frustration before ordering them around. Sam stayed still and looked at us sadly as we looked around still, finding the small attachment of Shadow's shield and large energon spills surrounding it. 

"Sentinel, he took Shadow. Light, he forced her to help him, why would she do that?" Sam asked scared as he looked at us. "Sam, do you remember when Sentinel spoke of him and one other being able to control the pillars?" Optimus asked the boy as we approached him slowly. "Yeah? But what's that got to do with anything?" Sam returned, running a hand through his brown hair.

"Shadow, she helped Sentinel invent the Pillars when we were younger. We had just joined with the Autobots and Sentinel caught her trying to upgrade her own weapons and suggested to cure her boredom by helping him design the pillars" I explained sadly, laughing at some parts of the explanation.

"She wouldn't do it, would she?" Sam asked, already knowing the answer. "No, she wouldn't but I believe that Sentinel bargained her help for our lives" Optimus theorised. I nodded my agreement. "She's blocking the bond to me, how about you?" I asked him slowly. "It is blocked as well" He answered. "Sam!" Lennox yelled making the young adult turn and run to him.

"We have to get her back before she get's herself offlined"
