The leaves crunch beneath Loki's feet, as the cool air whips at him. He walks towards the spot. He could easily teleport there, but felt he would enjoy a few silent moment of earth's silent beauty. To be honest the uninhabited places of any planet were the only places he enjoyed, or anywhere where Ella was. She was young, and still learning. He enjoyed being the teacher at some times.
A smile creeps upon his face as he squeezes his hand tighter around the tiny box in his hand. He had a surprise for Ella. It's been a week since he's seen her, and his surprise, excites him to the bone.
He turns behind a tree to see Ella. She sits on a log, her back to him. She's sniffing. "Ella?"
She turns sharply letting out a surprised gasp. "Loki. Omg hi!" She smiles and stands up fiercely wiping at her eyes. "I didn't see... or hear you there." She starts nervously laughing.
Loki furrows his eyebrows in concern. "Are you well?"
"Perfectly well, I just have this bad cold." She sniffs again signifying it.
It's enough for him. "Well Ella, I have something for you." He says another broad smile. He fishes out the box and sees pain in her eyes.
"Why? Whatever made you want to give me this?" She says her face filling in surprise as well as pain.
He looks at her confused. "I do not think you are well." He says walking up to her.
She backs up and wipes at her eyes again. "Please. I'm sorry. I-I just..... I've had a confusing week. Why would you bring me.. something." She asks her voice waving.
Despite her protest he walks up to her, gently taking her wrists. He takes his free hand and lifts her chin up as gently as possible. "What's wrong. What has hurt you so bad?"
Ella stares at him her lips slightly parted, as if she's battling her mind on what to say. He can see it. She's been in this state for quite some time. He wish he would have been there from the start.
Her face falls and tears break loose from her eyes. "I don't know what to do anymore." She whispers. "High school sucks ya know?"
Loki's face fills with concern as he wraps his arms around her tight. "Tell me, and whoever hurt you, I will turn them to ash." He whispers.
She attempts a laugh, but it sounds like a choked sob. "Oh, Loki. I hate lying to my parents. I hate not being good enough. I hate this stress. And yes I've tried to suck it up. It's just.... I'm not sure I can lie to them about me talking to you. Your family, and even though my parents don't see you have a soft side I know you do,"
Loki looks at her not sure what to exactly say, he doesn't let go.
"I would testify for you, tell them that you are a good man, and that your different. That your nice. That you would never dream of hurting me. But to sell it. I would have to ask you to come with me."
Loki tenses and she gently pushes him away. "You don't have too if you don't want to. But I'm going to tell them. Loki listen. Your like my older brother or something like that, to me and I would give a bunch in this world to see you. But I can't keep lying. Not when my parents are struggling so much,"
Loki tucks the box away in his pocket, out of her sight and nods. "I'll go with you."
Ella's nervousness has made the best of her. She was almost hyperventilating as they stood on the front porch of the door to her house. The billions of butterflies flew around her stomach like in some garden.
She stared at the door and breathed slowly. Loki stood beside her obviously waiting for her word. She wasn't sure if she was ready.
A hand laid on her shoulder and she squeaked jumping. Loki stands behind her and she looks at him. Right into his green eyes, they looked comforting but unsure. She finds herself studying his whole face again. His raven hair slicked back in his usual style. His lips pressed together in a thine line of nervousness. He raises his eyebrows at her with a small smile.
"Well this is all... overwhelming." Loki laughs quietly, Ella finds herself joining.
"I'm sorry for being so moody. It's been rough lately, but I think I can suck it up." She says hiding her smile.
Loki smiles back. "Now are you sure you want me here?"
She nods. "So they believe me," She states it plain and simple.
He nods and breaths. "Okay,"
She breaths and sighs her face paling. And then she knocks, the silence is overwhelming.
The door opens and there stands Amanda Noth. She looks at Ella and her eyes fall upon Loki, They widen. "What the hell is he doing here!" She screams.
Ella takes a big breath. "Recently. I've been sneaking behind your back to see my Godfather.... him," She points to Loki. Her mothers face seems to darken by every word she says. "And well, guess what. He's not a bad guy. He's actually s great guy. And mom, you've always said I have a great sense of judgment. Well trust this one. Because now I'm telling you I-we were wrong to keep a secret. I'm sorry, and you are the only one to decide if we get to still spend time with each other." She takes a breath. "Cause mom. He's like the only family I ever really get to spend time with besides you. I consider him family," Ella says slowly. She watches her moms face twist into different emotions until it turns solemn.
"Darling. I trust your judgment, but I don't trust him. And you have no idea how frustrated I am with you for keeping this from me....but I understand. Honey, he's the god of mischief and lies!"
Ella looks her straight in the eye. "If he would ever even think about hurting me, I'd be well equipped. He's taught me enough to fight back." She takes her mother's hands and stares into her eyes looking for any sense of acceptance.
But she could see the conflict in her eyes. "I'll have to ask your father about it." She looks to Loki standing straighter her eyes glance over him uneasily. "Come in,"
