Chapter 13 (Part 1) - Chasing Death

At dinner, everyone was babbling about my earlier announcement to join the pack. "So, what made you wish to join the pack?" Niall had placed himself between myself and Marie at the start of dinner in hopes of having a conversation that would convince me to go on a date with him. The whole table went silent at his question, intrigued to find out the answer.

Every ones eyes made me feel unsettled in my chair and I loaded some food onto my plate hoping to steady the nerves slightly. After adding as much food as possibly to my plate, I looked up to see that everyone was still looking as me expecting an answer. I cleared my throat and decided to let everyone have the answer that they were patiently waiting for.

"I saw how many people were willing to take a stand for me. The majority of them were acquaintances, yet they still backed me up. A pack that is kind enough to do that for me... To save my life, is a pack worth joining in my eyes." I looked around at the table of faces. Some were familiar, others weren't; but they all seemed to blend into one smile, happy that I wanted to be a part of their lives. 

I began eating the food on my plate, glad that some of the eyes had turned back to their previous conversations. Some looked a shade happier from my complement.

"I'd fight for you any day. This Danny; He's going down!" His sweetness mad me blush. I dug my fork into the vegetables on my plate, contemplating his words.

"That isn't going to happen. I'm not going to allow you to fight for me. You have your family here and your friends. Danny is a battle that I am going to face on my own. If I die, I'm leaving this pack unharmed and just the way it was before I left it." I wasn't going to be the cause of lost lives. The topic at hand made me want to cry, so I stood up and excused myself from the table. "Excuse me, If I'm going to win a battle and join this pack, I need to get started working out and getting ready for this confrontation."

The voice that always managed to generate a shiver down my spine finally spoke up. "Without eating a proper meal, I doubt your workout will help much. You should sit down and finish." I turned around and met Josh's eyes from across the room. I was still angry at him, he hadn't even tried speaking to me about what had happened earlier. 

I sent him a mental message of hate after deciding that glaring at him infront of everyone probably wasnt the best idea. "That is quite alright, I think I can do without for one day.

Just before I had the chance to make my way out of the room, his voice touched my ears again, but this time with more authority. "Come and finish your meal Bobbie." I was beginning to hate his Alpha Status. "I'm sure everyone will let you eat in peace without bringing up your future ordeals, we know now that you don't wish to speak about them."

I refused to look at him after his efforts to control me, but I walked back to the table and sat down with a huge sigh reluctantly. I shoved some more food in my mouth and chewed it slowly. I didnt want to have time in between cutting my food to speak to people. I made that clear by also keeping my head downwards, facing my plate at all times unless I needed a drink.

I was certain that my mood had turned sour. I was only upset about the topic when a first decided to leave the room, but Josh's ignorance and refusal to admit what had happened earlier in the day made me so enraged that I was sure I could feel steam piping out of my ears. 'I hope the steam blows towards him and burns him where the sun don't shine.' My thoughts managed to cheer me up slightly and I managed to enjoy my food more.

I had dropped my plans of visiting the pack gym and switched my plans to hanging out with Marie. "How did you put up with him?!" I hadn't told her the full story behind my anger towards Josh' but I don't her what I though of him in a few not so nice names. "Hes such an ignorant squirrel poking jerk! Can you believe that he made me come back to dinner? He forced me to do something I wasn't comfortable with! I had enough of that sort of behaviour from my dad! I just want to march into his office right now and slap him with a tortilla! A tortilla filled with fish! Shove it in his face and be like 'Smell this you kipper faced tomato!'" I made actions pretending to slap Marie with a tortilla.

"I know he can be a jerk sometimes, but I really have no idea how he made you so angry. Did he put salt in your tea? He did that to me once before we dated. Earned himself a slap there. Not a really hard slap, just a little one to show I was annoyed. Then I didn't speak to him for days." Her asked blanked as she drifted back to memories of what had happened to her.

I smiled at her. "No, what he did to me I am considering at worse." I laughed at her memory, disbelief that someone had actually tried that prank. "I don't think I want to speak to him ever again. Is speaking to him mandatory if I want to join this pack?" If it wasn't compulsory, my plans to not talk to him could turn into a promise.

"Im not sure, but I think it might be compulsary to talk to him in the ceremony when you join." Marie had a curious look on her face.

"That's if I join." I made the 'if' very clear to her as we both knew that I could only join the pack if I survived the battle against Danny. In my opinion, it was going to be highly unlikely...

[A/N] Hey guys!! I'm sorry I didn't upload! I was ill Friday and then last night my dog was throwing up everywhere so I was busy cleaning up and trying to make him feel better :)

So I know its short but I had to come off my laptop earlier - mum being controlling haha

Haven't spell checked cos of the same reason, but ill do it later!
