Chapter 12 - Chasing Death

After spending roughly 10 minutes in my room, I lifted my head from the pillow, grateful for the fresh air around me. I turned to my right to see Josh sat on the edge of my bed. "Go away." I groaned and flopped back into my pillow.

Instead, Josh decided to make himself comfy on the bed next to me. He brushed my hair to the side of my head furthest away from him and shuffled closer do that his nose was touching my ear. "I'm sorry." It was a simple statement that made me turn my head towards him. "Can we just chill out here for a while and maybe watch a movie?"

"There aren't any movies in this room, just rubbish daytime TV. You should invest in a sky plus box, they have recorded videos on anytime TV so you don't miss the beginning and you can watch them over again. Or maybe you should get Netflix if its just movies that you want. Go get a movie from another room?" I suggested.

"I cant be bothered getting up to go get one. Lets just use our imagination and pretend theres one on, deal?" He propped himself up against some pillows at the same time as me and put his arm over my shoulder. His face became blank as he pretended to watch the TV. 

"Deal. I hope the guys in this movie are fit!" I assessed his reaction as he frowned. "You know... Because if they weren't fit, it could have some very bad... Health effects... Which... Aren't good?" A smirked appeared on his face at the expense of my comfort.

"Nice save, but you know you dont have to say that to make me happy." Assuring me that my opinion was still valid, he turned to face me. "But if you do wish to make me happy, I can think of a different way. This movie is slightly boring, I think we should create our own entertainment..." He trailed off looking down to my lips.

I looked into his eyes for a moment before also looking at his lips. Should I? Would I? Could I? We both started leaning in until what felt like hours later, our lips met. 

My eyes fluttered shut and I for a moment, I honestly thought that I was on top of the moon. It was only a short peck but,  in my eyes, that moment could have lasted forever and I wouldn't have noticed.

We spent the next few minutes looking into eachothers eyes. I couldnt see his soul or anything like what books usually brainwash people into thinking, but I saw the desire to do it again radiating through his eyes. He started leaning forward again. 

I wouldn't say I got scared, more... Nervous? I decided to ruin the moment with my recently kissed lips and break the intensity. "I like turtles..." 

"Good to know..." That didn't stop him front leaning in further.

Panicking, tried thinking of something that could stop him. "Don't you think Marie would be a bit angry if she found out that this was going on?" Call me blunt but, it was my only reason.

"No. You haven't seen her today much have you? Shes already seeing another pack member. She also realised what I had, we weren't true mates. Now stop trying to make excuses and kiss me!" With that, he closed the final few centimeter's between our lips and kissed me again.

This kiss lasted longer and had a little bit of movement. Realisation of his recent words hit me and I quickly pulled away. "Seeing someone? Like who? I've never even seen her talk to anyone else since I've been here."

"Some bloke called Alex, he doesn't eat in the pack building because he lives in a cottage with his family about a minutes walk from here. Why?" He was obviously feeling rejected since I had stopped kissing him to ask, therefore, the reason why he was questioning me.

"I just... I sort of felt weird about you for the past few days, but I couldn't talk to Marie about it because of the history between you two. If she isn't bothered, I suppose that now I can talk to her about it." Relief spread through me from my conclusions. I could finally ask her for advice on the situation.

"No!" His disagreement was spoke so soon after my latest judgement. "We should... Keep us a secret, it'll be fun!"

Betrayal rushed through my veins. He was still ashamed. "I cant believe you! I thought your apology meant you weren't ashamed, but clearly I was wrong!" Highlighting the work 'clearly', I carried on with my rant. "You just don't want anyone to find out about us! How selfish can someone be? Using me as a bit on the side just because I don't have a loving mate. I cant believe that I was so stupid!" Tears rolled down my cheeks as I stood up and sprinted out of the door.

I launched myself out of the pack house, not wanting to be humiliated by people seeing the war I was loosing against my tears. I ran for about 10 minutes before stopping abruptly in my tracks. The scent in the air was changing, I was at the border of the Moon Wood Packs territory.

Taking several steps back, I refused to let my eyes stray from the trees. Just as I predicted, Danny waltzed out of the trees, a smug look on his face. "Well, well, well... What do we have here?" He practically sung, clearly enjoying himself.

"You cant touch me, this isn't your territory." I aimed to sound confident, but failed miserably.

"If you look around Bobbie, you are alone, I am not." More wolves appeared from behind him. "We could easily tear you apart and be out of here before that silly new pack of yours even noticed." He took one step forward making me flinch.

I decided to ask the one question that kept playing in my head. "Then why arent you?" His smirk faltered.

"Because he knows that you're not really alone." Josh - and at least 10 other members of the pack from the footsteps that I heard - had undoubtedly followed me here and heard the conversation. I didn't turn around to look at them, still avoiding letting Danny out of my sight. "Now, I suggest that you turn around and retreat to your home before you start a way that you will positively lose!"

The authority in Josh's voice made Danny stumble backwards in fear. He turned around and ushered his men to leave before glancing back. He made a signal to me that mean 'I'm watching you' before rushing off behind the rest of my old pack.

I turned back to the Moon Wood Pack and suddenly felt like I belonged. There must have been over 20 people in total - proving my earlier estimate wrong - that had stood here to protect me. Joy ran through my veins and I grinned widely. "I want to join the Moon Wood Pack."

[A/N] Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!! that is my favourite chapter yet! So much for an early night! I was gonna go to bed at 11 and its not 1.52am. Yikes!

Who liked this chapter then? I'm hoping that it wasn't just me!

Vote to save a Unicorn and enable humans to communicate with turtles! And since the last chapter gave a chance to meet a leprechaun, Ive decided to give you a chance of something different each chapter! VOTE TO HAVE A 1/43 chance of meeting a ginger human being! Much more common than leprechauns :P

p.s. The song for this chapter is You'll ask for me by Tyler Hilton because he said that the the song was about a girl who wouldnt date him because his character on one tree hill was a jerk and lets face it, Bobbie thinks Josh is a jerk right now :D
