"Why didn't you ask me the reason that I ran away from you, after knowing nobody kidnapped me?"
We were back to our old routine, where he was driving again and I was sitting in the passenger seat. Everything was back to where it was daily, except that old silence was gone. I was quite relieved with that. After what I saw in his eyes last night, I knew one thing for sure. That he was not going to harm me even if his own men were after him, the only I was unaware about was why?
Trust was a big thing and it wasn't like I was trusting him, I just knew he won't harm me, but I didn't know if he would not harm me if the objective was grave serious and he had no other option. What were his limits? Only he could tell. Because never in my life had I ever before witnessed betrayal for trusting someone and it was so, as, I had my own limits.
That is, to trust but not before you are given no other option to.
But are you sure, this is not what we call as trust. Infact, this was too much trust.
Ignoring my infernal inner voice I continued my train of thoughts. I never trusted Hanna or Stacey with anything, call me as bad as a friend you would like to, but that was the reason I never told them or anybody about what I always really felt about me and everything. Nobody knew me and it was because I never let them see me. I never trusted anyone enough to let them see what kind of thoughts did I carry, what kind of meanings did I have for freedom, what kind of life I wished not something which you would get on a platter served and ready to eat. I wanted my life my own freedom.
Trust be told, somewhere even I wasn't sure why I did what I did. It was an impulse, a rush, a call, which kept telling me from a long time that the air around me was slowly and slowly suffocating me. One day, I didn't ignore that call and just made a choice. Ask me why and I won't have an answer to it.
"You know why," his eyes were trailed towards the road and his hands were firmly gripping the steering wheel but his attention was all towards me. In a very low and a raspy voice he continued "I know you heard everything whatever they said. And I thought they took you. There was nobody in the store except me and a couple which arrived later but they left before me. There was no way those people were still following me, it was only them who could have taken you but who knew if that couple were a part of the gang in disguise." He snorted "the girl was quite loud and was getting hysterical about meeting her boyfriend's parents that she couldn't even shut her mouth. I heard their next destination so when I didn't see you in the car, I checked the area, also the store but only one lead was there to follow, that is, them. It was easy to deduce."
His eyes turned towards me for a while and I made a mistake to look into it directly. I saw a wild flame which gave me a shiver and made me want to grab him and kiss him till the kingdom comes.
"Never, ever, do any such thing again." dangerously he spoke each and every word warning me in such a way that a girl would never think do go otherwise "you made a big mistake by leaving your home another big mistake would be to leave this car. You are not safe." His jaw tightened.
"I am not safe with you either" I spat back.
Those grey eyes turned back to me to shoot me a look which made me hard to resist along with igniting a fire of anger somewhere inside me.
"Really? And how is that?" his jaw still clenched yet there was a tinge humour in his voice.
"Exactly, why will you protect me?" I shot one question from the bundle of questions I was carrying with me since that day I heard those guys. "Why are you saving me from the people you work with?" My temper began to rise. "Why? Why would you go beyond them and risk your life for my safety."
