One Day We Will Float

lead bones
deadbolt eyes
Water soaked brain like sopping sponge

sand bag feet
Toenails tethered to
terrible terrain

one day we will cut the ties
float up towards the brighter skies
leave the darkness far behind
end up somewhere hard to find

Leather skin
stones in lungs make
heavy breaths

iron hair tugging scalp
chains wrap spines
like damning nets

one day we'll be filled with air
so light that we can float way up there
away from all the pain and hate
to somewhere good souls populate

one day we'll loose all our fears
one day we'll dry all our tears
and find we're suddenly light enough to fly
when there's no more reasons to cry
