Chapter 14

Noah

I was awakened by the sound of an alarm. Lindsey, I immediately thought. I had forgotten she was here. I sat up and walked to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and walked back out. She's still asleep, even through that alarm, I thought. She must be a deep sleeper. I shook her awake gently.

"Lindsey, your alarm's going off." She turned her head towards me and opened her eyes.

She stretched, "Good morning."

"Good morning." I said and smiled.

Honestly, I don't think sleeping with her was that big of a deal. I mean, it's weird, but it's not like we're naked or something. Ugh, forget about it.

"Umm, I wanted to talk to you about something," I say.

"Sure anything. As long as it doesn't involve our talk last night, or should I say morning."

"Umm, what I said about you and I, being a couple and all. I didn't want to go to fast, or.... I didn't really mean it. I'm sorry."

"It's fine." She acted casual. "Besides, I don't want to go too fast. Maybe there's someone else who would like that." She pointed at me.

"Ha ha," I say. "C'mon, let's go get breakfast downstairs."

We got breakfast and long-story-short, she walked to her house, and I walked to mine.

Next Monday...

I walked into school to be greeted by Eric.

"Where the hell were you?" He asked.

"At a motel, I was fine."

"Ok, I was worried. Next time, text me."

"I just thought you would figure it out in that really smart brain of yours." I laughed a little at that one, but he didn't find it humorous.

Next I was greeted by Lindsey.

"Hey," she said.

"Hey," I said. "So umm, what are we doing now? I mean, after that all happened."

"Well, I need to tell you something." She sounded like... I really don't know.

"What is it?" I ask.

"Well, it was all a setup," she smirked. I couldn't process it all.

It was a setup? How? Why? What? I was very confused. Jaden walked up behind her.

"I see you've been messing with my girl," he said.

Jaden and Lindsey were dating and broke up. Must've been a fake one.

Before I could process it all, a burst of pain exploded in my jaw. Jaden had punched me.
"That's for talking to her!" He yelled. Talking to her? Seriously?

Then, pain exploded in my thigh. "That's for wanting to be with her!"

Finally, pain surrounded my neck. Jaden was choking me. "That's for sleeping with her!" He had a strong hold for what seemed like minutes before he let go. My legs gave out and I crumpled to the floor. "Now you know not to mess with her. If I'm with her or not, don't mess with her!" He kicked me once more in the stomach. Then, he walked away.

Before walking away, Lindsey turned back at me and whispered, "Sorry."
