CHAPTER X (PIGGYBACK RIDE)

Last day na ng intrams and I feel so drained due to all the shenanigans going on. Today's the awarding ceremony at katatawag lang sa pangalan ni Kuya Harry who was hailed as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the men's division of Volleyball.

I decided to stay where I was standing earlier while taking Kuya Harry' picture kasi tatawagin na ang mga winners sa track events. Maya-maya lang tinawag na si Kuya Serge dahil nag-first place sya sa halos lahat ng track events which made me feel so proud.

Crush ko yan! I thought while snapping photos of him as he widely smiled. After the second shot, I noticed.

Agad akong napalingon sa bandang likuran kung saan tamang-tama ay narinig ko ang pag-whooooo ng isang babae.

My brows furrowed. Sya nanaman?

And then I looked back at Kuya Serge again. He was really looking at her. And she was looking at him too. It was just like in the movies; they were looking at each other as if they're the only ones who are in the field.

I bit my lowerlip as I tried to hold back the tears that were about to fall. The annoyance, and fear were taking over me.

Namalayan ko na lang, may tumapik sa akin at agad akong napalingon sa kanya.

To my surprise, I saw Dyan looking at me. No expression can be read from her face.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

I sighed heavily and then forced a smile.

"Yeah, do you need something?" I asked her as I tried not to sound annoyed. I shouldn't vent on her.

"Nope. But I think you do." Dyan replied.

My brows furrowed again.

"I don't mind being your friend. I like your personality. Dyan straightforwardly said.

I was shocked. I can feel my eyes growing into two circles as big as pingpong balls.

She then gave me a smile and took the phone from my pocket.

"Here, you can text me when you need a friend to talk to. Based on what I've observed so far, you can't really talk about things like...you know...with your brothers so..." she said and smiled widely.

I was both confused and creeped out by how she's acting right now in front of me.

I have never seen Dyan smile, not even in class. But in know that she's always been very observant. I don't also see her hanging around others besides Jessarina and Emily who are both very nice and diligent.

"So, see you next week, just text me if you need someone to talk to!" Dyan said while she was walking away.

I smiled at her and then turn around to go to Kuya Harry and kuya Bren who were sitting with the rest of their 'squad'.

I walked towards them smiling to show them how happy I was with their success during the intramurals. But, just a few steps before I reach them, someone pushed me slightly from behind which caused me to trip and fall on .

I felt the annoyance slowly morph into anger when I realized that it was her. Julliane.

"Oh, ikaw pala yan, sorry ha? Are you okay?" Julliane asked half-whispering. Probably to avoid having others hear the sarcasm in the tone of her voice.

A few moments later I heard Kuya Serge's voice.

"Anong nangyari? Are you okay Rin?" Kuya Serge asked worriedly.
