Chapter 5:
His intense gaze had not changed. Nor had his signature top hat been removed from his head. In fact, May thought Wonka looked generally just the same as the last time she had seen him.
"Fellow hunters," Wonka said, addressing everyone. "Thank you all for coming." He tipped his hat slightly in acknowledgment. "I would like you all to meet someone." He motioned to the row of double glass doors in the Trade Center behind him. One of them opened and out stepped—
"Little dude!" May said with surprise. It had to be him. The same eyes, the same look of seriousness. His dark eyes considered the people around him solemnly. The Oompa Loompa's entrance was not well received. The crowd around her began to grow loud with protest, even Wesley, who now stood beside her, let out a disagreeable hiss.
"Everyone settle down!" Wonka demanded. "He is not your enemy! He is with our cause!"
"What the hell is this, Wonka? He could be a spy!" Someone from the crowd cried.
"He is our spy!" Wonka stated curtly.
Little Dude sighed and lowered his eyes, as if he was used to this type of reaction.
Gerald looked agitated. "Excuse me." He said as he left them and jogged up to where Wonka and Little Dude were. "Hey!" he cried heatedly. "Everybody just cool it, okay?! Are all of you really so afraid of one little Oompa Loompa? And you call yourselves hunters." He glared at them all.
The angry dissent quickly quieted down to muted grumbling.
"As I was saying..." Wonka said, his eyes staring daggers at the crowd. "This is our comrade, Yeltsin." Wonka motioned for Yeltsin to come further down the steps and stand with him. He complied, his short legs hopping down the steps quickly.
"He has been risking his life for the past year trying to infiltrate other O.L. gangs and groups. Looking for sympathizers that would be willing to help us on an important mission. And he has finally succeeded."
Yeltsin's eyes flicked to the side, and then the glass double doors were opening once more. This time six Oompa Loompas exited the building.
"We need to take back The Chocolate Factory." Wonka stated. "As long as it stands, the Oompa Loompas will always have a backup, always have a support system. If we are ever to defeat them, we need to attack their heart. Attack their homeland." Wonka shifted his weight on his cane. "Now we've tried bombing, but obviously that doesn't do much, since the majority of the facility is underground. And we can't very well attempt a standard attack, it's far too well defended. In fact, no one has actually managed to infiltrate the factory period, except for our very own Gerald..." Wonka pointed at his blond headed partner. "And a boy named Miles, who was a hero to the very end. May he rest in peace." Wonka was silent for a moment, his eyes lowered. When his head snapped back up, his gaze was as sharp as steel. "How did they do that, you may ask? How did they make it into such a well protected facility? They did it not by using force, but by using trickery." He gestured once again to Yeltsin and now his companions. "Our plan involves Yeltsin and his crew imitating a group of Oompa Loompa soldiers that has 'captured' a select group of us. They pretend that they are bringing us in as prisoners, and therefore sneak us in. We are in luck so far as that right now, Yeltsin and his friends have heard that Gloobenstomper is looking to capture some rebels again. Obviously, Gerald and I would be in this group of fighters that would, once inside the factory, go on an essential mission to find and kill the leader of the Oompa Loompas, Gloobenstomper himself." Wonka paused for a moment. "I realize this is all going to be extremely dangerous, but it is the only path I can see having any merit. And these brave Oompa Loompas have already agreed to put themselves in great peril to help us. All I'm asking for is some skilled hunters to help us on this mission. So..." Wonka looked out at the assembly of fighters and bounty hunters before him with grim eyes. "Who's with us?"
