Epilogue (Read if you have shipper eyes):

"Here's the last of them." Lizzy said as she set a pile of dishes down. The dishes clinked softly as May took them and dropped them into the dishwater.

"Thank you guys for helping with the cleanup!" Lizzy said as she took off her apron.

May began scrubbing the dishes clean of potato and sauce. "No problem."

Miles smiled at Lizzy sweetly. "Thank you for making such a wonderful meal!"

Lizzy looked away and smiled. "You're welcome. Gerald helped me though."

May, Sadessa, Wonka, Gerald, and Miles had arrived at Lizzy's farm a few days ago to find that Conor was long gone. Lizzy had told them how only a day or so after Sadessa and May had left them, Conor had proposed.

And Lizzy had turned him down.

Frustrated and upset at being turned down another time, he had decided it was the last time. Apparently, Conor had thrown a lamp across the room before gathering his things and storming off with no word of ever returning.

So, their original mission no longer viable, the gang decided to stick around at Lizzy's for a few days and visit. In the interim, Wonka had taken his things and decided that he needed to go off and lone-wolf it for a while in order to find himself, leaving the remaining crew in a quandary of what to do...Sadessa was upset and quiet, Gerald was nonchalant, and Miles...

May had expected Miles to be whining about wanting to go back to The Factory, but surprisingly, he seemed to be quite happy and enjoying his time here. So until they could decide what their next move was going to be, the four were just hanging out.

"Hey May," Gerald asked as May pulled her hands from the water and dried them. He leaned against the counter casually, but his body seemed tense. "Would you like to go on a walk with me?"

"Um..." May shifted her eyes as she tried to come up with some excuse not to.

"I'd...like to talk to you about something." He gave her a weak smile.

Oh shit. No excuse is going to work this time...May's heart began pounding in her chest. She managed to nod. "Okay."

The others watched in curious silence as the pair grabbed their hoodies and left the house.

"This way okay with you?" Gerald asked, pointing to the back trail around the field that led to Calvin's tree house.

She nodded and followed him. The past couple days she'd been avoiding being with him alone, so as not to encourage him to make his move. She wanted to avoid it as long as she could because she didn't know what she would say to him. And afterward, regardless of what she would say...how could things ever be the same?

When they finally made it to the tree house, Gerald slowed and pulled to a stop, his eyes on his boots. May hugged herself and waited anxiously. Gerald pulled off his beanie and nervously ran a hand through his hair. "May...I like you." He managed, all the while looking away. "I know I should have said something sooner I just...was too afraid to."

May's heart was in her throat. It seemed absurd to hear him say it, she'd known for what seemed like an eternity. But...he never did actually proclaim it. Wait, is it my turn to say something? Crap! May thought, realizing the awkward silence that had been setting there. She scrambled to think of something to say. No, not just something to say, the right thing to say!

"I just need to know..." Gerald said, his eyes suddenly on hers. "Is there anything here? May...if you're not gay, then why...why have you never showed any...interest in me?" He struggled to put his words together. "Am I not...am I just not what you're looking for?"
